Previously had many years extensions based on retirement, but new rules make it prohibitive so will be renewing my stay based on marriage to Thai.  Below is list of documents I will be submitting. Have I missed anything?

Form TM 7 & photo

Marriage Certificate

Updated Kor Sor 2

Bank book showing balance 400k+ last 2 months+

Bank letter

Lease Agreement (where we stay)

Map to condo

My passport

Wife’s ID card

Wife’s house book

Copies of all documents plus my passport pages and Form TM6.

I read somewhere that immigration at Chaeng Wattana are now asking for housebook and chanote of condo owner.  Is this confirmed?

And photos of you and the wife in around the house with one showing the condo number in it.

Here is my list of general requirements. Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf

Most offices want a signed copy of the owners house book and ID card along with the rental agreement. The Chanot is not normally asked for.

If you don't have children together, depending on the Immigration location, they might request a neighbor to guaranty that you live together, or at least submit a copy of their Thai ID.

This happened to me last year in Hua Hin after four years of no such requirement.

Not at Chaeng Wattana immigration.

Very few offices ask for witnesses.

Be prepared that in the month after your first extension request has been submitted you can expect a visit from immigration in order to verify that you are actually marriage.  My wife and I were not around that first visit so the immigration officers chatted with neighbors and the village head.  People in the village knew me considering I'm the only farang in our Tambon district out in the sticks in rural Lamphun.  They will make that visit prior to issuing you the actually extension stamp approximately 1 month after making the application.

I confirm, in Udon they want a witness

Petchaburi also.

Before only a witness for the first extension now every year apparently.

One witness was enough last year but I will check if it's one or two this year.

Can't remember if the witness had to bring tabien ban or if ID was enough.

Also, you could make your own copies of the relevant documents to save a little time.

Unlike the retirement extension these copies grow to a small mountain of paperwork fast.

You sign every page of every copy related to you. Wife signs every page of every copy related to her (i.e. her ID). You both sign every page of every copy related to you both (i.e. marriage certificate). It saves time but if not sure don't and sign wait to be told (scolded).

ATM of bank account  just before  you arrive  immigration  is also helpful.

Photos can be jpgs printed to a page A4 or prints glued on A4.

Remember  to do Reentry form..need photos.

Rayong requires witness and bank statement has to be from the day of application, my bank opens 09:30 and immigration 08:00. My bank statement was from about 15:30 the day before application and not acceptable. It was our 4th marriage extension and because of no children another visit was required, this one seemed very strict compared with the first one we had.

Re Chaengwattana Immigration and marriage extensions:

1. Can anyone who's done one at CW lately confirm UJ's post above that CW does not require bringing along witnesses?

2. And, does CW Immigration typically do application pending home visit inquiries or not?  And if so, does it matter if one's wife is usually away at work during normal business hours M-F, as opposed to staying around the house?

1.Does a marriage/divorce affidavit from the US embassy ever expire

2.Does a legalized document from the MFA ever expire

3.Can I get this done all in one day( Affidavit,Translation and MFA)

4.Must I have the Thai lady with me at the MFA!

I have a Kor Sor2 Marriage Registration.  What is an updated Kor Sor 2 and how do I go about getting it? Chiang Mai marriage.

It is a Kor Ror 2 marriage registry.

What is needed is a signed and dated printout of it that can obtained at any Amphoe for a fee of 20 baht.

It is to prove you are still married since if you had filed gotten divorce it would not be possible to get one.

Presigned copies don't work in Udon as there is now a stamp that you have to signIMG_6934.PNG.02bb15f0c04af6e1d82075f6e8c4b28b.PNG

Jomtien immigration wanted 1 witness with copies of his/her housebook, ID card en photos with him/her showing our housenr. and in livingroom. That was end januari 2019. Not the first extension.

I have seen posts from people who go to get a marriage extension at jomtien say they don't need a witness and all the times I have been getting a marriage extension they never ask me for a witness so it is very confusing to what is correct or not if you had to have a witness in Jan.

I have read reports that they do not ask for a witness if you have a child from your marriage.

Well that has not happened to me as we don't have any children and all the extensions I got for marriage at this office they have never asked me for a witness. Now in Aug we will find out if this has changed when i go to get my next extension, and if they have changed this then I will get a witness. I don't want to wast the time of a friend who will have to take time of work if its not necessary.
