It's not that " there is nothing",  it's about Trump miscalculation: 

1/Trump voters supporters and followers, and above all, evangelists and GOP, don't care he had extra marital affairs.

2/These women would have told their stories, and so what? Trump's wife is not that naive.  

So, Trump would have been better advised to avoid wasting all that hush money payment ++ that today cause him all the trouble.

When it comes to Trump, no morals, no ethics, no values come into account,  that's what you describe as  " rubbish allégations of no substance",

But there are Federal/regional, state, city/county, Congressional "investigators".
