hi there, using true for the last few months, and all is good.

bought a new linksys router yesterday and i cant seem to get it working!

its a linksys wrt54g wireless router.

when i put the cd in, it told me to connect my old modem to the router.

and so i did. followed the steps perfectly, and when i enter my username and password at the end, it says connecting..... for about 5 mins then it says cannot connect.

all the lights are on as they are described.

then i decided to remove the old modem and just use the new modem ( which is how i want it to be )

and when i plug my internet directly into the router, the internet light doesnt come up at all on it.

so i follow the setup and still no luck.

went to 192.168.1.1 and tried to connect it here.

put in

pppoe

username

password

and clicked connect.

but it then says cannot get an ip address.

there is space to enter a hostname, and a domain name.

so i rang true, and they helped me a small bit, but still nothing.

so, does anyone here have a suggestion?

there is no place to enter vpi and vci settings on the router which i found a bit wierd.....

I have the same router and am using it behind a TRUE cable modem here in Chiang Mai.

What modem(s) are you attempting to use with the LinkSys?

My settings:

PPPoE

USER NAME: Xxxxxx (Case sensitive. Only the user name. Nothing else.)

PASSWORD: XXXXxxx

Keep Alive Redial: 30 seconds

HOST NAME and DOMAIN NAME are both BLANK.

ROUTER NAME: WRT54G

Under the MAC ADDRESS CLONE tab, click ENABLE and press the CLONE YOUR PC's MAC button.

If you are running a software firewall like Zone Alarm, etc., try disabling it while you're troubleshooting your connectivity issues. Once you do connect, re-enable it and see if it affects your internet connectivity. You may need to configure it for your "new" network.
