Video: Pattaya "good Samaritan" turns out to be experienced snatch thief

Police in Pattaya made a quick arrest after a snatch theft at the resort in the early hours of Friday morning.

Pattaya news reported that the thief was Seri Seuameng, 37, while the victim (in the surgical mask at the press conference) was Mr Patrasit Khongbanjop, 33.

Patrasit reported to the police after a man on a Honda Wave motorcycle offered to take him to South Pattaya.

But instead of going there he took Patrasit to a soi near the Rom Pho Market by the Laguna Beach 2 hotel.

Patrasit realized what was happening and jumped off the bike. The thief turned back and took his wallet containing Thai and foreign currency amounting to several thousand baht.

Police saw the licence plate on CCTV and traced it to a woman who said that she had loaned her bike to her elder sister.

When the cops went to her sister's address Seri opened the door and he resembled the thief given in the description by the victim.

He soon cracked and police found he had previous offences for drugs (three) gambling and snatch theft (one each). He said he'd spent all the proceeds from the latest theft.

He was detained and charged with using a vehicle to do snatch theft.

Thaivisa notes that there was no mention of the word "ladyboy" in this The Pattaya News story.

Looks like a woman to me.  Maybe he is 'one of those'?

The ladyboy was the innocent part here for a change.  Let's hope she is not too traumatised by the experience.
