What did US think was going to happen when it plays in Ukraine , Russian backyard ? Russia will retaliate and start playing in American  backyard.

US got outplayed in Ukraine and will get outplayed once again, like it or not.

You catch more bees with honey not with fieces

cuban missile crisis once again?

Trumpy mate, don't wait for the Russkies to do as you have asked, send a battalion of crack Marines to Colombia and position them on the border with Venezuela and then ask Putin to remove his soldiers...

Then we can read in the history books how the Venezuelan Penis Crisis came about.

Was Manafort with the CIA?

Ukrainian officials asked Washington for lethal weapons to help fight Moscow-backed separatists. What they’ve just received, you might say, is the next-best thing: about 300 soldiers from the United States Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade to train Kyiv’s troops in the ways of war.https://www.pri.org/stories/your-american-tax-dollars-just-sent-300-us-paratroopers-train-ukrainian-soldiers

"internal safaris of a sovereign nation"?

What South American countries are allowing themselves to "be the backyard of the US."?  What does that mean?

internal affairs of a sovereign nation. autocomplete made is safaris somehow ????

anyway, i am sure you understand that typo so why mention?

What South American countries allowing themselves to be the backyard of US?

all south american countries supporting the opposition in venezuela right now and approving US sanctions and threats.

or the ones fed with US aid money. US made those countries dependent on the US financial and weapon aid. Once they dont approve US, US threatening them with this and sanctions on top.

or fascist dictators brought by US just to counter communism in that region. this is happening for a decade.

hence all those economic and political problems in South America.

open your eyes my friend.

I don't think autocomplete changed "sovereign" to "safari", but I'll let that go.

Do you think South American nations are incapable if an independent foreign policy?  Do you think Columbia and Ecuador, dealing with millions of Venezuelan refugees, are happy with circumstances in Venezuela?

I am unaware of South American countries dependent on financial aid from the US.  Please provide the names of such countries and your sources showing there dependence.

I'm also unaware of any fascist dictators currently ruling South American countries.  What countries are you referring to?

Please help me open my eyes.  What are the specifics of your broad claims covering the continent?

Venezuela will take it's place in University text books as to how to completely destroy a country's vibrant economy and impoverish it's people through a moronic self-serving dictatorship and socialist policies...

Feel sorry for the people of Venezuela...US is looking at another Syria scenario by not going in sooner to restore a responsible governing body there...now Russia & China have thrown in with Maduro...the plot thickens...????

Yeah.    It's not like they lacked the resources to keep moving forward.

And why don't you volunteer to put your life on the line and lead these crack marines against Russian crack troops.

I love armchair trigger happy generals. Makes reminiscence about failed US incursions in Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia and so on

all come back to life. There was a time when military action was the last act after the failure of diplomacy.

But you have resolved that. Cancel the diplomats and let you sit in the armchair and run things. Cheers, see you in the line at the recruiting office.

Maduro (and Putin, etc.) is winning. The Venezuelan people are losing even more. The majority of South American nations and the vast majority of Venezuelans want Maduro out but they also don't want a full scale war or an American invasion. Americans don't want that either.

There is no quick and easy answer. All Maduro had to do was hang on and he's hanging on.

Yes, you have it right. Diplomacy could win in the short term but I doubt it.

The problem is the oil reserves.

I could solve the whole issue in a week.

Make a 4 sided access to the oil (US, China, Russia and India)

On the condition that a percentage of the profit filters down to all citizens. At the moment, the Maduro era is taking the lot.
