Yeah the chickens have come home to roost just like 1990 all over again. Turn those lights on in those condos on Asoke to sell em! ha! Its sad what has been done to the people here. What a great beach resort town. No boats or vendors we saw on the 5km long beach. A beautiful treed park runs almost the length of it, free gym equipment and plenty of toilets. The whole town is packed with Russians, refugees from Jomtien I think, and happy to have moved. ,!
Krataiboy
The reporter said there looked to be not many tourists - though he put that down to the economy and the time of the year. Or maybe they took one look at the state of the water lapping the new beach and did a runner.
jacko45k
Well if there was rain there like in Banglamung yesterday there won't be sand there now either. Oops, too late, and more rain today. Edited April 2, 2019 by jacko45k

Popular Post plahgat
Dirty water, speedboats and jetskis everywhere makes it hazardous and dangerous to swim! There are no freshwater showers or toilets on the beach, so no way to freshen up after a swim or suntanning session! Most tourists that TAT lures to Pattaya these days are Chinese and Indians non of those likes to spend the day in the heat and the sun sleeping on the beach! It´s mainly Westerners and Russians that likes the beachlife and they are much fewer these days because of the sinking dollar, rubel and other currencies, Thailand is getting more expensive and isn´t the value it used to be so many now go to other countries for holiday!

If you think this erosion from today's rain has made a mess of the new beach, just wait until the next time you get a strong wind blowing directly onto the shore which usually happens most winters, then what you see today will pale into insignificance. Speaks volumes for "Bangkok's top university" that came up with the plan don't you think? Agreed...but this is now a bigger problem ,with the sandbags so close to the surface of the sand......pryor to this latest disaster, they just used a backhoe to fillin the eroded areas ,that now is impossible,as those disgusting sand bags would be ripped apart and left exposed above the sand...

connda
Perhaps they should offer those 20 countries with Free Visa On Arrival free transportation to the beach, free deck chairs, and free vouchers for free stuff. Why not. Then to offset those costs, charge all farangs, especially those who are not on the Free Visa On Arrival list 10x the price for transportation, for deck chairs, and vouchers to enter the National Parks at only 5 times the price of a Thai. Sounds like a plan 'eh? 1

Popular Post Sydebolle
The sea features manure, the "tourists" face those ridiculous rules and regulations and are getting cheated once they leave the baggage delivery/customs area at the airport. Combined with expenses higher than the average day in Germany or Iberian peninsula, the ongoing language issue of all-Thai, pollution and stand-still traffic jams in many places .... TAT - please advise why anyone in his right mind - not wanting to juice around in what the country offers as night life - would want to do here; honestly? 1

In my mind, Pattaya just is not a place to go for anything other than girly bars. There are far better beaches elsewhere. Would you honestly recommend to a friend that they make Pattaya part of their itinerary? 5

Dry as a bone here in Bang Sang I spend 4 months in Thailand, mostly Pattaya, every year. More and more I am concerned about the air pollution, the dangers of walking anywhere ,the rising prices, the number of Indian and Chinese wandering around in big groups , and of course ,the beautiful beach that you look at but can never touch the water. But do not smoke on the beach , or use a vapor device anywhere . This morning I open my window in Dublin to a lovely spring day and the fresh air hits me so sweetly as I breath it in. I am only a week back from Pattaya , and I know I will go again soon , but now ,right now, I am saying why ? last time I was questioned by immigration on arrival , a lot of stamps on my passport but never entered illegally or overstayed. I felt that they thought they were doing me a favour letting me in to the country again to spend my money, and I do spend , unlike our Chinese friends. The reality is they should have a welcome sign out , but ... TIT ... yeah ? 6

Immigration are certainly cracking down, mainly on the younger folk, who come here and work illegally, mainly in the digital world, or those that are in effect living part time in LOS on the wrong visa. It won't really impact genuine tourists, although its much better to get a one year METV if you intend to visit more than once in any 12 months. My mate visits us here once every 18 months or so and he uses visa exempt without any problem as he clearly is a tourist.

Popular Post Geoffggi
One of the problems is the way the authorities have made the Foreigners feel unwanted with the exception of the money they spend...... we are just ATM's in their eyes and if they do not wake up to this fact the number of foreigners will continue to fall and it will take a long time (if ever) to get them to come back. Pattaya has grown too quickly and the powers that be want to change from working class to Prince's overnight and show nothing but contempt for the people that have lived, worked and raised families here contributing to the rise in the standard of living & knowledge that has been passed on to others within the individual work forces who indeed were mostly Thais. It is a shame that the people in power appear to have forgotten the good that the Farang has done. 3

The sensible solution is to look for the less discerning tourists, and the old ones become of no importance.

While the beach looked okay, we all know the water is as polluted as it can be with raw sewage. That said, the most striking thing was the mass of boats in the bay, it looked like thousands of them. Frankly, it looked very off putting, not at all attractive, more like a crowded High Street on a Saturday. if nothing else was wrong with the beach at Pattaya, and there is plenty, that would certainly put me off. the excess boats happened when they closed the boat ramps at bali hai--so many operators anchor off shore instead of using boat ramp at jomtien. if only thai authorities could understand that tourists dont like dirty water or rubbish lining the streets--and do something about cleaning up.... they would then get many more tourists.... its simple realy... the new rubbish collectors are doing a much better job---thats a start.
