PHUKET: Emergency temporary repairs to roads in Phuket Town will begin tonight after local officials suffered a heavy public backlash spurred by a series of comical alter images posted online yesterday (Apr 4).

The photos, posted online by Phuket Town resident Thawat Chaisalee, showed large tracts of ugly and dangerous sections of unsurfaced road along the sides of Rassada Rd and Phang Nga Rd.

“Let pictures tell the story. I just wanted to show how the Phuket Government does its work,” Mr Thawat told The Phuket News.

Thats him off to the attitude adjustment centre

"We just don't care", raises it's ugly head so often.

Reaction only after shamed online ? ??  Is this the miracle mantra to solve the pollution crisis or the annual flooding crisis or any other social issues?

Must have also added some Armour Piercing comments to get through the thick skin of a Thai Official.

Happens all over the island. Some works are done such as laying new pipe then the side of teh road or some spot on the corner does not get properly resurfaced. For example there is a steel plate on the corner of Chao Fa West, next to the ex Honda dealer, which has been there for a couple of years. Probably covering some pothole. I could name many other corners that have potholes which you can't avoid let alone the storm drain covers that act like potholes because they are set several centimeters below the road surface

We have the same thing here in Patong, where in one particular case, a huge (possibly 2.5 m x 2 m) metal plate is welded across the top of some sort of drain and what with that and the metal from the drain being uneven, it presents one hell of risk to motorcyclists – – – – and believe it or not there is a similar welded plate about 80 m further along the road.

The state of many roads in Patong is abysmal and dangerous, so perhaps some photographs will do the trick there as well??

Perhaps they expected the pipe to leak in the near future...
