Gas Delivery Truck Erupts in Flames, Driver Severely Injured: Chonburi
In a harrowing incident on the evening of November 16,a gas delivery truck caught fire, causing multiple explosions and leaving the driver severely injured. At approximately 17:30, a pickup truck loaded with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders was traveling along Saphan Mai Road near the Chonburi coastline in Makham Yong, Mueang District. Suddenly, flames erupted from the rear of the truck, followed by loud explosions as gas cylinders ignited. Police from the Mueang Chonburi Police Station, along with firefighters from the Chonburi and Bang Sai municipalities, rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze. After 45 minutes the fire was brought under control. The aftermath revealed three ruptured gas cylinders and the pickup truck itself was almost entirely destroyed, with only the engine compartment remaining intact. The driver, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, suffered severe burns across his body and was unable to communicate. Rescue workers from the Thammarat Maneerat Foundation administered first aid before transferring the victim to Chonburi Hospital for urgent treatment. Mr. Natthaphon, 34, a rescue worker from Chachoengsao who witnessed the incident, shared his account. He was returning from a family trip to Bang Saen Beach when he saw the driver inspecting the truck, which was emitting thick smoke. “I stopped my car, activated my hazard lights, and helped block off the road. Suddenly, the fire intensified, and the gas cylinders began to explode. I recorded a video for evidence,” he said. The driver sustained serious burns during the explosions. Natthaphon immediately contacted local emergency services and firefighters for assistance. He urged stricter safety measures for vehicles transporting gas, emphasising the difficulty of controlling such fires once ignited. “This time, we were fortunate that no bystanders were injured or caught in the explosions,” he added. Authorities are waiting for the injured driver to recover before questioning him to determine the exact cause of the fire. Australian Businesswoman’s Condo in Pattaya Robbed: Over 3 Million Baht Stolen
Pattaya City Police received a report of a robbery at a luxury condominium in Soi 5, Pratumnak Hill, South Pattaya, Chonburi Province. The victim, a 40-year-old Australian businesswoman in real estate (referred to as Ms. Annie), was left in shock after discovering her valuables worth over 3.5 million baht had been stolen. Authorities, including the local investigative unit, tourist police, and forensic experts from Region 2 Chonburi, immediately inspected the scene. The burglary took place in a ground-floor room of a high-end condo. The intruder had entered through the back door, ransacked the room, and escaped with a significant haul. Among the stolen items were a Rolex watch, a Cartier watch, two Cartier bracelets, two gold necklaces, a gold ring, a pair of gold earrings, and diamond jewellery. Forensic teams collected fingerprints and other evidence from the crime scene. Ms. Annie reported that she had left the condo the previous afternoon around 14:20 to celebrate Loy Krathong with her family at a private pool villa in Bang Saray, Sattahip District. When she returned the following morning, she found the room in disarray, with all valuables missing. She immediately contacted the police. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the condo, which revealed that the suspect was a Thai male, estimated to be under 18 years old. He was dressed in a t-shirt, colorful rainbow-patterned shorts, flip-flops, and carried a black backpack. He entered the premises around 02:10 through a side entrance and scouted ground-floor units for valuables. The footage showed the suspect shaking the rear glass door of Ms. Annie’s room, gaining entry, and stealing the valuables. Woman Found Dead in Palm Plantation Identified as Prosecutor’s Mother-in-Law
A chilling discovery in Wang Chan District, Rayong Province, has taken a new turn after the body of an unidentified woman was found in a palm plantation on the evening of November 15. Initially, authorities were baffled by the gruesome scene, but they have now identified the victim as 67-year-old Mrs. Wanna Kortner, mother-in-law of a prosecutor, who had been reported missing the day The victim’s body was discovered lying face down on a dirt road in the Pa Yub Nai Subdistrict plantation. She had a deep wound on her forehead, likely caused by a blunt object, and her neck showed signs of lacerations. Her ring fingers on both hands had been severed, presumably to steal her diamond rings. The body was in an early stage of rigor mortis, and the estimated time of death was six hours before its discovery. Items including glasses, a hair clip, and severed finger fragments were found near the body. Authorities initially had no leads as the victim carried no identification. Following the widespread coverage of the murder, Ms. Wannarat, the victim’s 35-year-old daughter, contacted Wang Chan Police Station after recognising the description. She confirmed that the victim was her mother, who had gone missing after attending a merit-making event in Sattahip, Chonburi Province. Mrs. Wanna had been last seen leaving a temple with friends before vanishing without a trace. Her daughter filed a missing person report at the Sattahip Police Station on the morning of November 16. Upon seeing news of the body, Ms. Wannarat contacted authorities, who sent photos of the victim for confirmation. The victim was last seen wearing valuable jewellery, including a five-baht gold necklace, a three-baht gold bracelet, and two diamond rings. These items, along with cash, are believed to have been stolen by the perpetrator. Police suspect that Mrs. Wanna was lured from Sattahip to the plantation, where she was murdered. The severed ring fingers were found near the body, suggesting the killer aimed to steal the jewellery. Preliminary investigations point to robbery as the motive, and the police are working to identify suspects. Officers have collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and are searching for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area. Ms. Wannarat, a government official in the prosecutor’s office, and her husband, who is a prosecutor, are actively assisting the investigation. She expressed her grief and called for the harshest penalties against those responsible for her mother’s tragic death. Police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Worker Electrocuted at Construction Site in Samut Prakan
A construction worker was electrocuted while plugging in a water pump at an underground power line installation project in Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan. The incident occurred at 09:00 on November 16, near a construction site for an underground power line project next to the bridge by Wat Sarang Sok in Bang Bo District. Police Lieutenant Kasem Phetphimansamut, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Khlong Dan Police Station, received the report and coordinated with rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, rescue teams found the victim, identified as Mr. Jo, a 39-year-old Myanmar national employed by a drilling subcontractor. He was unconscious after suffering severe injuries from electrocution. Rescuers moved him to the sidewalk and performed CPR for approximately 20 minutes but were unable to revive him. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A coworker, identified as Mr. Aung, stated that the team of five workers was preparing to start the day’s work. Mr. Jo had gone to plug in the water pump when he suddenly began convulsing, indicating he had been electrocuted. Suspecting an electrical short circuit, Mr. Aung quickly cut off the power and alerted their supervisor to contact authorities. Investigators collected evidence at the scene and interviewed coworkers to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim’s body was transferred to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for an autopsy. Authorities are also working to inform the victim’s family and coordinate legal proceedings to address the tragic incident.
