Four policemen and a female civilian were injured on Friday morning when a bomb hidden in a roadside bicycle exploded just 300 metres from the Na Pradu Police Station in Pattani's Khok Pho district.

Police and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) responded to the 11.20am blast in front of Ban Koh Ta rubber wood processing factory on the road number 409 in Tambon Thung Pla.

They rushed the injured policemen - Pol Lieutenant Manoon Kaewkabthong, Pol Lieutenant Chatree Kaewkan, Police Senior Sergeant Major Apiwat Boonkaewphetch and Pol Sergeant Major Jatupol Akarawibun - and female bystander Limoh Tohteh to Pattani Hospital.

Among these wounded, Jatupon was the most seriously injured.

Suspected insurgents planted a bomb-laden bicycle at the roadside before detonating it when the police pick-up truck passed, police said.

Police and soldiers on the move in the open need situational awareness in the southern provinces.

Especially when traveling repeatedly through common routes to posts and bases.

The Prayut regime has given the insurgents no peaceful acceptable options to reconciliation (short of unconditional surrender), so expect such suspected insurgent attacks to continue.

Police & army forces have a tough job down there, operating in a primarily civilian area, IED's could be anywhere!

Prayut needs to change tactics to bring this to an end... he doesn't like negotiating with the opposition.. but in this situation dictating is achieving nothing except death of innocent people!

He excepts the losses as they're far from BKK, one day it might reach his doorstep !

Oppressed minority freedom fighters bravely striking back once again.

There is a saying going worldwide around:

Not every Muslim is a terrorist but every terrorist is a Muslim.

Why many western Governments forbid 1%er Motorbike clubs wearing their colors but allow this fundamentalist group bombing and killing.

They are brainwashed and radical grown up and the biggest issue is NONE of them is understanding the words of the Koran...

The are cowards, hiding behind anonymity to kill and injure indiscriminately. The PM will do what most western countries say they do, but eventually don't;  do not bargain with terrorists.

Except for the Australian nuthead in NZ.

Yes, but it isn’t true.
