good riddance.  they really need to start charging by the pound similar to baggage...

the actual problem with obese flyers is other passengers' responsibility. they spill over, take up other people's space, and if the airline charges more it should somehow go to credit the "spillee".

KOH samui isnt a seedy resort town,  known for hookers!

Rest in Peace,    you had your 2 minutes of  fame.

Would not want to sit next to such a huge guy in business class either! Yes, there is more space, but THAT much more space???

I would be very dismayed if i decided to treat myself to business class for the first time and anything like that happened.

It would appear that the Deceased did purchase additional seats on his travels.

Yes, apparently, but he was an exceptional case. The problem is people who are hardly half as obese as him...like someone said about getting two fatsos, one on each side of him. And leaning over / sleeping on him.

Maybe he was terminally ill and knew it so he wanted to make one last voyage, and that long flight was just a part of the "show".  Now he probably enjoyed the last month in Thailand instead of spending his last days in a hospital bed.

He was obviously a miserable guy, to have let himself go like that, and to be so rude like he was to the EVA flight attendants.  Something tells me this was not his first or last time of being jerk to other people.  Maybe now he can find some kind of peace...

Maybe normal in your neck of the woods but he looks pretty unhealthy to me.

Heard of sarcasm?

The airline situation is down to the check in staff not barring him.

How did anyone even get in an economy toilet to wipe his bum anyway? Sounds like a typical piece of "The Sun" gutter press reporting which is confirmed by

Koh Samui a seedy resort? It has BGs like every Thai resort, but it's hardly Pattaya, is it?

A stunned flight attendant told how the hulking passenger boarded the plane on a wheelchair and asked to be given three adjoining seats in economy class due to his size.

So he asked after boarding? Someone is making things up.

However, can we imagine what it must have been like for anyone seated next to him?

BTW, boarding in a wheelchair is nothing unusual.

Can't say I ever connected Ko Samui with prostitution.

:cheesy:

Ever been there?

There was a very large bar area over the lagoon at Chaweng near the Reggae Pub when I went there in the 90s. The bar area may have gone ( I never went back to Samui after it went "upmarket" and got ruined ), but the scene will still exist.

Lamai also had loads of BGs.

Sure, parts of Koh Samui are seedy, but not all. Let's also not forget it's over crowded, with a failing infrastructure, is smelly, has appalling drivers even by Thailand standards, and the quality of Farang holidaying there (especially in Chaweng), is low even compared to Pattaya standards.... and that's saying something.

Quality post. Thanks for your view. Clearly you must have spent a few days in very high season in Chaweng to come to such a nonsense view of Samui.

well wonder does he have funds to repatriate his body back to USA??

Imagine being asked to be a pall bearer at the funeral

He's dead mate, he doesn't care what happens to his body...geez, some people will always raise the issue of funds/insurance... get over it.. dead is dead, he long longer cares.

The boys down at TAT will be going over the moon for "The Sun" reporting from Koh Samui, according to them a "seedy Thai resort famed for prostitution". Article 44 must be pulled and "The Sun"'s website blocked for good.

On a more sombre note, there are seedier places better known for its horizontal business activities and Samui, albeit completely outpriced for what they offer, is still more of a family resort than certain seaside resort close to Bangkok ????

Don't worry.  As a fellow American I am arranging a GoFundMe campaign to repatriate his carcass.  Anybody want to donate?

Rather funny how the writer assumes the resort was famed for it's hookers. Any idea which one it could be as I'm calling foul due to their assumption and my experience there.

Agreed. I have never heard of this so called resort or found it on my travels there. Great idea though. The amount of farangs I have seen slide off their bikes on the sharp corner around the lake leading to the girly street is laughable. In house saves a lot of pain.

I understand that he was on Eva air because Thai Air or china air would not let him fly with them because of his size and health. Thai air and China air both have direct non stop flight from Los Angeles to Bangkok and is cheaper than Eva Air and 5 1/2 hours faster because the do not stop in Taipei.

Nah, been in different parts 6 times over the last 20 years. Last 3 times have all been quite awful. Shame, it used to be nice.
