INN reported that Choke Chai police had denied bail and were taking an alleged Laotian swindler to court.

Earlier Lt-Col Prathuan Malaengthap had arrested Thao Khamla Nakkawong, 56, on his arrival at Don Muang airport.

The businessman's arrest followed complaints made in 2016 over illegal dealing in shares in a port development scheme.

The multi million baht spat has resulted in charges being laid in Laos against a Laotian claimant called Cholakorn.

INN said that Thai investors were also among the victims of the fraud.

Relatives who turned up at Choke Chai police station in an effort to bail out Thao Kamla were thwarted.
