Are the new scanners at the airports going to kill off visa running and switching passports?

I don't do the tourist visa run every 3 months, I get ED visas. Though it has the same problem of having too many if/when you repeat the same classes.

Don't see why it will impact Visa running, it is a   valid 'process'. At the end of 90 days on a Non-Imm O Multi, doing a run will still be expected.

As to switching passports, for a new passport, I expect it may uncover the reason(s) it was done, beyond expiry or lack of pages.  Switching nationalities, I bet the two passports would soon be linked in their system.

wont impact anything for 99.9% of people,  only there to catch criminals

getting new passport in same name ur still linked, using 2 different passports in same name, same results

BUT now getting a NEW passport in another name or buying a stolen/fake passport, you'll be caught out.

BUT something i dont understand, when you get  a new passport, ( at least a US one, well i didn't for my last one) you do NOT submit your fingerprints.  Will this be the next step internationally?

I think it already is done internationally, just not in the USA. Same as chip in bank cards, they're not always on par with other western countries.

i think many are under the impression that they will use this and then just go straight to baggage pick up.

It will be an ID check prior to going to the queue to hand in the TM6, have every page in your passport looked at and then get stamped in as usual.

It will add time to getting through, not shorten it.
