Hi all,

I am looking for a doctor in Bangkok (orthopedic I guess) with specialty in Achilles tendon problems.

Been suffering from a sore Achilles tendon on/off for years in connection with running.

I've been trying all sorts of rehab. Now I am at the point where just a small jog is triggering severe pain.

I think I might be suffering according to Uncle Google ???? from Haglunds deformity.

I would like to discuss this with a specialist who knows about this matter and not just the average doctor who prescribe medicine and tell me to stop running.

Any advice out there???

Can't advise you on doctors, suffered tendon pains when I ran all my life, and knee pains.

Hiking, cycling and swimming is the obvious answer, no tendon and joint impacts.

Works for me anyway.

A few months ago I purchased a pair of new running shoes. I usually alternate my days with running and jump roping. A week after using my new shoes,  I was jump roping and I felt a sharp pain behind my left achilles tendon. I couldn't walk properly after that day for almost a week. Icing several times a day and anti-inflammatory medications helped but not fully. I had to buy a pair of new shoes (for work) as the old ones were not giving me any support with the new injury. Limiting my distance (running) and avoiding jump roping also helped but most of all, the stationary bicycle was what really helped.

Basically you just need to stop doing anything that aggravates the achilles tendon and that can take weeks or months. My achilles tendon doesn't bother me much anymore but I do have a thick swollen nodule to where the injury was. I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to injuries but this was one injury that really scared and worried me.

For sure stop any activity that aggravates until you have a good ortho evaluation.

I suffered a ruptured achilles tendon at age 28 and despite post recovery medically declared full I still suffer inflammation at times often without any known trigger.

Be aware that some antibiotics have  been linked to tendonitis.

Thanks for advice Sheryl. As always highly appreciated. I'll book a time with the doctor you recommend and discuss the matter with him.

To LM405, I'm also very stubborn so instead of just accepting that I can't go running I want to know if anything can be done.
