Democrat party joins coalition government to end political uncertainty

The Democrat party has decided, by a majority vote, to join a Palang Pracharat-led coalition government in order to put an end to political uncertainty and to “switch off” the continuing power of the junta, said party leader Jurin Laksanavisit at a news conference Tuesday night.

The NCPO will disband automatically once a new government takes office.

After a fierce debate among the 39 executive committee members and 53 MPs, who were split between those who want to join the coalition and those who want to form an independent opposition, the party took a secret ballot in which 61 voted in favor of joining the coalition and 16 opposed, with two abstentions and one invalid vote.

Would not "switching off the power of the junta " be more effective by joining the anti junta parties, not by joining them? Or is that wording designed to make them feel better after selling out?

As I have said many times you have to cut the head off the snake to kill it. By joining the anti junta parties, whilst the logical democratic approach elsewhere, in Thailand with the enforcement of the  old Siam feudal system being orchestrated, it is effectively only grabbing the snakes tale.

Like most, I wonder what they extracted from the PP to get their votes?

The promise of bulging wallets for a few years.

Belly up to the trough boys because

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. A proclamation by the pigs who control the government"

No wonder Prayut recommends "" Animal Farm, by George Orwell. "" ????

Definitely an oxymoron with the use of 'democrat' and 'junta' in the same sentence.

The Democratic Junta Kingdom of Thailand.

‘Democrat Party’.

LOL

They really betrayed their voters with this decision. I hope the voters pay them back in the next election but judging the Thais everything will be forgotten and forgiven by then.

Didn't expect Jurin to have the fortitude to withstand pressure from those junta ex-PDRC party members especially from the South. Jurin has always been a follower rather than a leader in the party for a long time.

If FF members were offered 120m each this must have been a very expensive buyout do they have no integrity?
I wonder where they stash their loot? USA?

The thought of money to be made, when they get their

noses into the trough, won, over  morals, they said they

would not join the Palang Pracharat party, and as politicians

 always do,they lied.

IMHO a coalition government with a slim majority is a quite desirable result. They will have to govern by consensus of a fairly politically diverse group, so many points of view will have to be catered for.

It is certainly far healthier than the previous PTP solid majority riding roughshod over the views of the minority, while taking payment to vote to the command of a family of criminals.

No, you expected fully half their MPs to break away and support their old enemy PTP. Anybody not suffering PTP sycophancy would know that was not going to happen, and why.

Relax junta fanboy. Those who break will be joining the pro democracy bloc.

There are lies and there are boldfaced lies.

This is a whopper.

I would like to hear the explanation from Jurin , just exactly how putting the junta back in government with Prayuth driving the tuk tuk amounts to switching off the power of the junta.

What a sniveling scumbag.

Still, at least Abhisit and a few members of the democrat party have resigned in protest.

Small compensation to a swindled electorate.
