BANGKOK, 7 June 2019 (NNT) - The Palang Pracharath Party leadership said yesterday the allocation of cabinet seats has not been finished as yet while the Democrat Party and Bhumjaithai Party leaderships appeared to rest assured that every cabinet seat will remain unchanged as earlier agreed upon.

Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed that every cabinet seat in his party’s quota will remain unchanged as earlier agreed upon. However, the Bhumjaithai Party will finally accept its part of the allocation of cabinet seats so that a new government can be completely set up.

Democrat Party leader Jurin Laksanawisit said talks among his party’s rank and file over cabinet seats have already been finished though Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was reported to consider reshuffling those in the Palang Pracharath Party’s quota.

Palang Pracharath MP Puttipong Punnakant commented that he was not worried about the allocation of cabinet seats after he had talked with the other coalition partners and that everything has been carried out as planned. He said every party has prepared persons suitable for respective cabinet seats. Lists of persons to be named cabinet ministers are yet to be submitted to the premier for consideration. Whether or not they might be changed would depend on decisions of the head of government.

Palang Pracharath MP Somsak Thepsuthin, who leads the Sammit Group, commented that the party’s executive board is in charge of allocating the cabinet seats and he will finally accept his part. But he insisted that the Palang Pracharath Party should take charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

Meanwhile, the Pheu Thai Party and Future Forward Party filed a petition for investigation into allegations that an additional 11 MPs currently hold shares of media firms. Those include Democrat MPs and Bhumjaithai MPs.

Pheu Thai MP Sompong Amornvivat confirmed that he has been readied to act as Opposition leader if approved by the party. He said the Pheu Thai Party has been readied to act as the Opposition and will elect a new leader and a new executive board of the party.

Future Forward MP Rangsiman Rome said his party yesterday lodged the petition against an additional 11 MPs for allegedly holding shares in media firms, 10 of whom being Democrat MPs and the other being a Bhumjaithai MP. So far, a total of 41 MPs have been accused of holding shares in media firms. He said it will not take House Speaker Chuan Leekpai too much time to look into the case and forward it to the Constitutional Court.

So they only "appeared" to be assured of the cabinet seats agreed by a PM who is often referred to as Pinocchio. Good luck to them.

This whole election stinks from start to finish....Even for a country where corruption is a national sport this election is truly a cesspool of epic proportions....

The PPP seem have overlooked that the Bhumjathai (and the Dems) have over 20% of the seats in the parliament, they should get at least 20% of the ministerial positions. If they spit the dummy and go elsewhere the PPP have a problem.

This is not what I read this morning, credit Bangkok post; (DPM Somkid;) 'The source said that Mr Somkid wanted to take back the key economic ministries from coalition allies and hand them to these PPRP executives...'

Apparently if this doesn't happen the DPM may not be in the next government and thus not be able to continue with the NCPO's team. So it would seem all is not settled yet.

Given that the outcome of these elections was never in serious doubt, I would prefer to think that BJT's basic election plank has been assured to bring them onboard...

Let's get ready for reefer!!
