BANGKOK, 28 June 2019(NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has held bilateral talks with his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison about the trade war between the United States and China. They agreed to push for the setting up of a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, to alleviate adverse effects.

During the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, Gen Prayut met with Mr. Morrison and reached a mutual assurance to strengthen their cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral arenas. The Thai premier invited his Australian counterpart to pay an official visit to Thailand which would be the first such visit in 21 years. Though the Thai-Australian Free Trade Agreement has continually increased by 3.5 times, both countries have been concerned over the effects of the U.S.-China trade war and have closely followed the situation. Both leaders believed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership could be a mechanism to alleviate adverse effects, thus pushing for the setting up of such an arrangement.

As this year’s ASEAN chair, Thailand has prepared for concrete cooperation with the G20, ahead of the 35th ASEAN Summit scheduled for the end of this year. Besides, Thailand is ready to cooperate with Australia in all respects, including anti-terrorism, extremism, anti-transnational crimes, and anti-drugs trade and human trafficking. Thailand has also welcomed Australia’s decision to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. Australia is also expected to consider taking part in areas of expertise under the ACMECS framework.

And getting rid of excise taxes for Australian wines, etc. They are always ready to cooperate when they have to do jack shit or can gain something. Sanctions I say.

Australia siding with junta and communist thieves to save it's own ass.

I'll be remembering that Ozzie's. China is a nation built on intellectual property theft, trade and currency manipulation.

There is no easy answer in dealing with China and truth is, they could totally capitulate and sign some massive deal and it will be the same old shit.

Thailand isn't gonna do dick for you. Talking shop but Oceania? For shame.

5555 ! - "anti-drug trade"?

I think general nuisance should first start with stopping treating foreign western visitors to this country like criminals.  THAT would be a good start to establishing relationships to deal with international crime.

I worked in the game (the "good" side) for many years before retiring to live in Thailand and - as much As I researched the country I was still not completely aware of the extent of criminal corruption that exists here.

This place needs to start recognizing who the crims are and stop blaming farangs.

THEN They might get a bit of cooperation.

Here he is praying that "righteousness would exalt the nation,"
