If they could have manipulated it they would have prevented the crisis of 97.  Sorry.  They don't have enough money.

Total nonsense to suggest that the manipulative and crooked economists currently in Thailand now were mature enough 22 years ago.

You don't think there were any competent economists 22 years ago?  I don't care how crooked you are you can't manufacture gold and USD. To save the baht.  Never happened.  Except in your opinion unless you could link some proof?  You made the claim that Thailand manipulated currency now back it up.

Well clearly they didn't as they would have manipulated it like they are currently doing. But hey just keep those rose tinted glasses polished, your repetitive replies have come somewhat tiresome.

Any intervention is not for a competitive advantage in trade

Strange that Thai exporters are complaining about the strong baht.

Strong value of Thai baht blamed for export decline.

Have you not grasped the topic of this and every economic article about Thailand in the past 3 months?  If they could manipulate it - the direction would be down not up.  Sorry but they can't manipulate it.  You made the claim but no evidence.

It’s to the point where most people realize the Baht is dependent on the days China deposits hot money into BoT.  If China has no deposit today—the Baht goes down.  If China deposits—Baht up again.

No they learned from the '97 crisis. Now they hold significant foreign reserves--$216B--enough to set their own monetary policy and make the baht as strong or weak as they like. The baht is as strong as the powers that be want it to be. Strong enough to help Thai companies, like CP, expand overseas while getting the biggest bang for their baht. (See: https://www.reuters.com/article/chareon-pokphand-foods-strategy/thai-cp-foods-aims-to-lift-revenue-by-50-in-5-years-as-it-expands-overseas-idUSL4N245298

What? A strong baht hurts ordinary Thais that depend on exports and tourism? Since when have the Thai super-rich cared about ordinary Thais? Quite the contrary: make the rich richer and the poor poorer. That's the name of the game here. Oh look! Thailand most unequal country? (https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1588786/report-thailand-most-unequal-country-in-2018) Big surprise!

Current account surplus! Spend the money to improve Thailand. It’s a disgrace in terms of quality life for the poor Thais who are too dumb to know the difference or complain ....at the ballot box.

more like they are too greedy by selling their votes.
