A wood pellets factory in Bangkok’s Bang Na district was hit by a fire early on Saturday.

Police said no one was injured in the fire that broke out at the Kitrapee Co Ltd factory on Soi La Salle 49 at 1.30am.

Ten fire engines took about three hours to control the blaze after it swept through the entire factory building and caused its roof to tumble down.

The owner of the factory, Nonglak Ruannarin, 56, said the factory was closed in the evening and she had hired a Myanmar couple to watch over the factory at night.

She said the couple told her that they saw a fire spark at the main sawing machine in the middle of the building before the fire started and spread quickly.

She said the factory has been operating for over 20 years and the damage was estimated at about Bt5 million.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

That's not funny! My young pullets are my favourites but I must be sure Mrs Leghorn is on the nest and not scratching around the yard.

Or even wood pellets?

Yes indeed:-

Wood pellets are the most common type of pellet fuel and are generally made from compacted sawdust and related industrial wastes from the milling of lumber, manufacture of wood products and furniture, and construction. ... They can be used as fuels for power generation, commercial or residential heating, and cooking. (ref: Wikipedia)
