Surgeons

Featured Replies

Never forget that Surgeons make money by cutting you open. So they will nearly always suggest an operation......

And when a Quack here in LOS refers you to a Private Hospital for Scans, Treatment etc, he gets a percentage of the fees!

So be on your guard.

have you got actual proof of that ?

when you buy a tv , the salesman gets a commission from sony , when you buy a beer the beer girl gets a commission from tiger.

whats your problem?

It is simply not true that a surgeon will always recommend surgery.

A good surgeon will be quite conservative and recommend surgery only if it is indeed the only or at least the best option, and will fully explain the risks and benefits to the patient.

And yes, there are surgeons like that here in LOS. I have been to see quite a few (not that I am all that sick, but I often accompany friends and acquainstances).

In fact I've had the expereince of very much wanting (or the patient in question very much wanting) surgery only to have the surgeon recommend strongly against it. Or, in other cases, insist that more conservative approraches be tried first.

Good surgeons do not do surgery on demand let alone try to stimulate demandn the patient. It is one of the hallmarks of a good surgeon.

There are, of course, bad surgeons to be found. I always research qualifications carefully before consulting, or bringing anyone to consult, aa surgeon or other specialist and I haven't gone wrong yet. Surgeons who are at the top of their specialty tend to also be ethical. They make plently of money without having to resort to unethical behavior, and they take pride in the quality of their work.

Someone who resorts to unnecessary surgery is not only unethical but most likely poorly skilled.

Top marks for stating the Bloody obvious mate.

So I say again, be on your guard!

Funny I could have sworn I said NEARLY ALWAYS....!
