Popular Post Sparkles Posted July 16, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2019 Rather confusing message this week from the Ministry of Agriculture in regard to them warning farmers that they should "save" water and that rainfall is expected to be 5-10% lower than normal wet seasons.That appears to be a very conservative estimate considering provinces like Nakon Ratchasima are currently experiencing the worst dry period in 50 years. How do you save water when you don't get rain some farmers might be asking. We used to have a very active "rain" thread on this forum with posters providing photos of reservoirs & dams that too seems to have dried up. Our part of CM, Hang Dong, is as dry as a chip, just the occasional passing shower & now well into July. This year we have 18 rai and only 4/5 rai looks OK. Might have to sacrifice a pond or two if no rain this week. The distribution of rain isn't uniform .. it depends where you are. Here in the north east we have had some good rainfall although much less than in normal years.. other places are very dry and in the south and around Pattaya they have been having a lot. stropper Posted July 17, 2019 Share Posted July 17, 2019 we were a bit lucky out 15 ks from si that, it rained heavily a month ago and filled our big dam at th bottom of the 10 rai of rice paddies, the big tractor is rotering the last 3 paddies today and we will plant tomorrow, just been down to have a look and there is plenty of water left after 2 days of pumping. We also just finished planting 30 rai of mung just as the rain started, it is going gang busters, i finally convinced a third of my thai family NOT TO BURN after we cut the cane this year and leave it to go back into the ground, on 50rai, thais walk past and i watch them stand and look at how well every thing is growing, we have the new, do not need much water rice planted on the lower paddock, looks good, and up a little bit higher the peanuts are really looking good, but the small river is dry, the ants are looking for high ground which is a good sign, lets all hope ! 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
