TM30 nonsense

It's a stupid, petty requirement which has always been a law, but is only now being enforced due to pressure from above.

TM28 is also in the law and not enforced at the moment, in breach of the Immigration Act Section 37.

But you can suck that one up also when it happens, and all the rest that may follow.

Some local Insurance in the mix maybe.

Rather an over-reaction. All this "they don't want us" whining is rather pathetic. Do many countries welcome migrants, retirees or long-stay "tourists"? It's a stupid, petty requirement which has always been a law, but is only now being enforced due to pressure from above. Just suck it up or ignore it and pay the fine if you have to.

I already decided to move out of Thailand at the end of my current visa. The current climat concerning expats is not good. My friend condo got raided, he has an elite visa and was fined and almost arrested because he didn't have the TM30, he didn't even know what a TM30 was. And myself i'm trying to do my TM30 for a month already and I can't get it done, still no password to submit the documents.

When I moved from Nakhon Pathom to Bangkok proper in 2015, CW did require me to do the TM 28. Said I owed a 2000 baht fine but they let me go "this time."

Immigration didn't kick the door, they waited in the lobby and stopped everyone there and asked to see everyone's passport. My friend had to go back to his apartment escorted by the immigration officers to get his passport, where they discovered that his last TM30 was in a hotel in Krabi. They demanded 5000 thb and told him if he didn't pay they would arrest him on the spot and take him to the police station.

He paid and was let go. It's the kind of traumatic experience that I don't want to live. But my situation is the same as his then, my TM30 is not yet filled.

The TM28 has been enforced in the past, certainly in Bangkok, but as it's only required when you move to a new permanent address, it's not often needed. The big change is chasing and fining the foreigner for the TM30 which was always previously down to Thai hoteliers and landlords.

Sounds like rogue Krabi officers. The maximum fine for not reporting is supposed to be 1,600 baht. Inspections like this have occasionally happened in targeted condos in Bangkok, but people without TM30 receipts have usually just been warned to get their Landlord to make the report.

Everyone is talking about how the TM30 crackdown is affecting farangs.  As if the expat farang community is the one Thai authorities are most interested in.

I'd like to know how the Chinese and Indian expat communities are dealing with this.  That's the future and that's what is probably driving most decisions at TI these days.

The Chinese tend to be in Thailand as tourists so TM30s don't affect them. Like Chinese, Indians only get 15 days Visa on Arrival, so unless they're married to a Thai, working or retiring, it doesn't generally affect them either.

Start reporting all those issue to opposition party by joining them on LINE and send them all those nightmare... why so many tourist are gone and it's not the thb but the immigration...
Which opposition party? Do you have the Line details? Maybe better to post on the PM's Facebook page.

Not sure TM30 reporting has much effect on genuine tourists as they don't have to report.

Time to move, really. Not possible to hammer common sense into hollow skulls. This is Thailand, if they have nothing else to keep their grouchy, unqualified and unhappy civil servants busy, so be it. Never saw any such nonsense - except maybe the 90 days notification?

367 waiting in the queue before the OP? Jeeeezzzzzzzz

If you're unhappy now, wait until people start talking about Article 37.

http://nonthaburi.immigration.go.th/en/2018/12/01/พ-ร-บ-คนเข้าเมือง/

Part of it states you're supposed to inform them BEFORE you go out of province for more than 24 hours.

This country gets funnier and funnier ona daily basis.

Showed it to Mrs baboon. She is having none of it, reasoning once you are in the system, there will be no end to it and you will be easy pickings for (even more) corrupt officials:

Knock on the door.

"Where is he?"

'In town.'

"How do we know that? He could be anywhere. Oh dear, it looks like we might have a problem..."

In a few days we are off to see my mother in law ,who is housebound and 84 ,we are staying with her for 3 days , how can she fill in a tm 30 and who will care.?

A good question. Probably nobody. However I can envisage folks having problems on their return if no TM30 was received for the period of their absence, which is another worry...

I went to Rayong and stayed with friends for 4 days then returned to my home in Ratchaburi and have not been to immigration to file another TM30 again after reporting my arrival at home after arriving from overseas on the 27 June 2019.

When I leave to return to Australia on the 7 August I expect no trouble at all with immigration.

Off topic, when i arrived at BKK on the 27 June 2019 from Australia I was not fingerprinted at Immigration but the foreigners ahead of me, at least 5 that I could see, all had their fingers scanned.

I arrived on a Non-Imm O multi entry visa based on marriage.

I've said before a lot of people still dont know what the TM-30 is, I know of a situation now where the old lady who owns the bungalow well she owns a few sits there collecting her rents, she is just not interested, a guy I know rents one of her bungalows was only recently made aware of what the TM-30 is, he wants to set his record straight but at the same time doesn't want to drop her in it my guess this is not the only case, I suppose if enough Thai people kicked off things might change,

Or until they kick us out for not doing a tm30..

I'm not participating in this bs

Me neither. Not yet anyway. Take my chances again this year. Rather pay the fine and sort it out later...when doing the extension. This ridiculous place gets sillier by the day. ????
