Barry Hall jus needs better sense period. If he wasn't a footballer he would be digging roads or filling up a 6 by 6 jail cell.

Fremantle has ended Collingwood's hopes of a top-four finish with a 24-point victory in a scrappy affair at Subiaco Oval on Friday night.

The home team gave its supporters something to look forward to for next season, with its young outfit easily accounting for the Pies,12.8 (80) to 8.8 (56)

This was a poor excuse of a game and a major blow to the Magpies hopes to play in the finals. For Freo the game mattered little but they played like they meant it, Collingwood on the other hand were very unimpressive.

North Melbourne may have thrown away the finals' double chance after it was outclassed by Port Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday.

Port won by 76 points, 23.10 (148) to 10.12 (72), which means if any of Adelaide, St Kilda or the Sydney Swans wins later in round 22, North will face a sudden-death final next weekend.

This game wasn't shown in Thailand which is a pity because it should have been a good game - turns out it was a major upset and will have major inpacts on a number of other sides

Geelong's 99-point demolition of the West Coast Eagles at Skilled Stadium on Saturday has seen them join Essendon as the only two clubs to have a 21-1 win/loss record at the end of the home-and-away season.

The Cats 24.20 (164) defeated West Coast 10.5 (65) to finish the season on top of the ladder with 84 points, giving the club its second McClelland Trophy in a row. Geelong has now won 40 of its past 42 matches, including its last 13 in a row – its fourth greatest winning streak.

After scores were level at quarter-time – both teams kicked 4.3 – Geelong blew the match away with eight goals to two in the second quarter. And from the final three terms, the Cats piled on 20 majors to six.

So dominant were the Cats, they amassed a whopping 451 disposals to 215 – each Geelong player recording at least 12 possessions, while they also sent the ball inside 50 on 66 occasions to 28.

It was the second time this season Geelong belted West Coast, having crushed the blue and gold at home in round 13 by 135 points. It meant the Cats achieved two 100-point-plus victories this season and two wins by 99 points.

The only blemish for Geelong was the report of small forward Mathew Stokes, who had his number taken in the third quarter for striking West Coast midfielder Chad Fletcher in the head.

Heavy conditions and a committed Western Bulldogs have failed to dampen Adelaide's quest to grab a top-four spot at AAMI Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Crows made the most of the chance offered to them by losses to North Melbourne and Collingwood, and appear almost certain of a double shot in the finals following their tense nine-point victory over the Bulldogs.

Adelaide ran out winners in the dour clash, 10.16 (76) to 9.13 (67). But it was a close thing.

Again this game was not shown on TV in Thailand so I can't comment too much but it appears to have been a hard slog game.

The Hawks coasted to a 79-point win, 24.15 (159) to 12.8 (80), but the result was of only passing interest as attention focused on the sparring between the Coleman Medal rivals.

The Sydney Swans have taken a strong step towards silencing their doubters on the eve of the finals, comfortably accounting for the Brisbane Lions at the SCG on Saturday night.

After just two wins in eight weeks, the Swans responded with an intense display of their trademark football to lead at every change and win by 61 points – 17.12 (114) to 6.7 (53).

The win sends them to fifth spot on the ladder for now but, regardless of how St Kilda performs against Essendon on Sunday, the Swans are assured of a home final next week against North Melbourne or the Saints.

They can thank Port Adelaide and Fremantle for beating the Roos and Collingwood this round, however, the Swans will source more confidence from this performance after talk the 2005 premiers were facing the end of an era.

And it was a case of no Michael O'Loughlin, no Adam Goodes, no Ryan O'Keefe, no problem, as the Swans filled the void of its sidelined premiership players.

For the Lions, it's curtains on a season that produced some very good results and some disappointingly damaging ones after they looked finals-bound with six qualifying matches to play.

While the stats sheet indicates that frustrated Swans forward Barry Hall only had minimal impact, kicking one goal, he drew Lions defenders like a magnet with each contest which allowed his smaller, crumbing teammates to pounce and convert.

The Cats, who sealed the game with a spectacular nine goal to two third quarter, won 17.17 (119) to 8.13 (61) to book their place in a preliminary final, earning a week off in the process. St Kilda, which came into the match with understandable optimism after demolishing Essendon to claim a top-four spot last week, now have to back up to play Collingwood at the MCG in a knock-out semi-final next Saturday.

Next Friday it is the Dogs v the Swans

and on Saturday it will be Collingwood v St Kilda
