How is Fortune Town IT compared to Panthip?

For me a lot of the charm from Panthip has gone now that the bigger stores are now there. Whilst there’s some shops from the past it just isn’t the same.

 

I’m wondering if Fortune Town IT is any better in this regard of have the corporates invaded there too?

Pantip has really gone down the tubes. It is a pale shadow of it's former glory. I tend to avoid it altogether these days. Fortune is good, and MBK has alot of tech stuff too.

Pantip 2 At Ngamwongwan is also on a decline but there are a still a few of the smaller stalls there. Still a lot of second hand stuff and a some good technicians that can repair PCB and sell 2nd hand stuff if that was what interested you about the old Panthip 1.

 

Although the ground floor is more about clothes and Tops supermarket and a whole level each for second hand purchases and amulets so the days of Panthip 2 being Panthip 2 may soon be gone.

I probably switch from Pantip to Fortune maybe 5 years ago. I visited Pantip once about a year ago and it was basically completely empty. I won't miss it if it will closed completely.

Went to Fortune Town yesterday. More character about the place especially the toys section featuring all the old Nintendo games.

That said most of the IT stuff can be found elsewhere.

Pantip is, pretty much, a ghost town nowadays. Fortunetown is still doing well

Fortune Town doesn't have all the touts tapping you on the shoulder and asking if you want to buy "dirty video" that Panthip has (or at least, had).

First floor of Fortune is mostly restaurants and mall type shops, 2nd floor mostly phones, photo gear and some high end audio. 3rd floor is pretty much computer, computer parts and peripherals and the 4th floor more like Pantip with a lot of specialty electronics, used computers and a lot of gadgetry.   There is also an Amorn (sp?) discount electronics store.  There is an IT City on 5.

Eventually the touts realized that everyone these days gets their porn fix online.

 

I'm surprised threads like this still come up as all tech purchases are now easier and cheaper online as well. Newest stuff is not even in the shops in Fortune. Read all the reviews up front on Youtube and get the best price, ship from anywhere in the world or from Thailand. Malls are becoming obsolete for this stuff.

Platinum across the corner form Pantip has more high-end stocks (in the same brand shops as in Pantip) During the Pantip renovation many moved there and haven't moved back. 

 

Fortune has some unique shops like high end headphones, vinyl and for computers, some odd guys like networking only shops, 2nd hand old computers, old servers shops, small form factor.
