rhino Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Does anyone know whether one needs to be living in Thailand to apply for a non-resident visa? I am planning to live there later and was wondering if I could start now by obtaining the three annual non-resident visas before moving to the country.

You will find a lot of information here. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74654
astral Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 You need 3 years on the Non Resident visa, with the annual extension issued inside Thailand.
lopburi3 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 You are obviously, or almost, talking about Permanent Residence (PR) requirement of having been in Thailand for 3 consecutive years. This is required to be extensions of stay for one year at a time by Immigration - not one year visas. This is only part of the requirement and you should really read the pinned item at top of forum as without working here there is very little chance of PR for most people.
