It looks like a Butea Monosperm or Palash flower

It does look a lot like it but they don't grow on a tree, it's more like a vine or creeper.

 

I think that you've put me on the right track though and after looking for other Butea species, I reckon it might be the closely-related Butea superba. According to Wikipedia, this is "a vining shrub native to Thailand, Vietnam, and India." Other pictures of the Butea superba that I've found, closely match what we have in our garden.

Yes, we have both varieties in our garden. What's interesting is that they never flower at the same time. You have either one or the other in bloom but not both together.
