Bees Left Something for Pooh Bear.

hundreds of bees made a hive in my yard. they did not bother me so no problem.

then after about a month they departed all at the same time and this was left behind.

I have been watching and there are no bees anywhere near. none coming or going for about two weeks now.

it does look as if it has "bee bodies or larvae" that are inside. but no movement.

my maid said "Worth a lot." is she right?

should i be like Pooh Bear and climb up and stick my nose in it?

Wild Thai bees produce about a kilo of honey per year. But you cant harvest it without a special setup or take it all without damaging the colony. My guess is that this hive is empty.

If you leave it there chance are another swarm will eventually set home there.

From memory 1 kilo of wild honey is worth about $150 in the middle east.

Those are the Dwarf Honeybee....Apis

Florea.

They absconded, no problem, moved to new location.

I am a Beekeeper in Chiang Mai.

Those bees look old and on their last legs....obviously from Hua Hin.

Tell them to be sure to send a post card ...NCC is missing them.
