..2 years ago the river and lake by our house flooded.. part of our house was flooded.. the old people said they had never seen anything like that before..  this year it happened again..  These floods were caused by weather systems coming off the Pacific and South China Sea.. coming over from the Philippines.. These storm systems are getting stronger because of warming sea temperatures..   This whole north east area is drained by the Chi river.. originating in the mountains behind Khon Kaen. I flows to Maha Sarakham... where the Pao river from the huge Lam Pao dam enters with flood waters from our area.. it flows to Roi Et and on to Ubon Ratchathani where it joins the Mun River and flows on into the Mekong River.  All these places along this river system have experienced floods 2 years ago and are experiencing huge floods at the moment from  these huge storms.. they are likely to get worse as the oceans warm even more.  Climate change in action.  Climate change deniers .. go stick your heads back in the sand.. do not reply to this.. zero tolerance for ignorance..

A good report=very accurate.     I first came to Thailand  in 1971 and through the decdes I have seen temperatures rise with higher humidity.  There appear to be more tropical storms and more flooding.  In the past, I can remember several cool seasons actually being cold and having to wear sweaters.

In 2011- I left my house in  Pathum Thani by boat, an area that had never floded-

Most of the Thai people who are elderly state the weather is different- they can't artulate why but they know the difference is there .  People in the wet markets continue to comment on the difficulties in growing certain vegtables and the availability of certain produce.

Climate change is real and you don't need to be a scientist to realize it.

much like erection, and intellect for that matter, sea levels goes up and down

through history, but in the later stages of life,

you really shouldnt extrapolate and dwell over

the ups and downs from personal deterioration into sea levels

My wife says never had flooding on farms like the last 3 years.  Our district startles Che River valley to the north, and Mun river valley to the south.  Her farms to the north.

Surely the pattern is not the same with the NE Issan. I lived in Phon Charoen, Bueng Kan Province, and although it did not rain so much at the ‘ time, it did enough to quench the rice paddies. The winds and rains seemed to come from the ESE, under the influence of fronts from the Gulf of Bengal and Andaman sea. Whereas indeed the Khon Khean region was badly affected by drought at the same time (Jul-Aug this year)

Thank you for spending the time, and making the effort, to provide a reasoned, and factual, balance to the often preposterous claims for climate change (once called global warming, until it was shown to be erroneous and the "alarmists" decided to cover their a$$es) featuring an agenda dominated by vested interests.

Al Gore, in fact, a dilettante when it comes to climatology, has made a small fortune on the back of his "inconvenient truth" (where the word "truth" is highly questionable). One cannot, however, question his showmanship nor prescient place in being ahead of the bandwagon.

Articles by "Delingpole", who writes for Breitbart News, are always worth reading, if only for obtaining a balanced view, and which is almost impossible to find in the mainstream media.

Interesting place you live.. I live south of there .. Kalasin.  Yes.. there are 2 monsoon streams that affect our region.. and most of Thailand.  As you say the South West  monsoon off the Andaman sea.. and the North East monsoon that generally comes from northern Vietnam & Laos.. the North East monsoon originates in the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea..  The South West monsoon has been very weak in our region for the last few years and Khon Kaen and much of the Isaan region has been in drought or near drought because of this weakness.. other places have had a lot of rain from it.. particularly Thailand's west coast but even up as far as Chiang Mai.   The typhoons that develop in the stream approaching the Philippines generally approach northern Vietnam and then swing north west into southern China.. or head north to Hong Kong and on to Japan.. occasionally they cross over into north Vietnam and northern Laos and into northern Thailand as the last two big storms did.  These storms were huge and we went from drought to floods in a matter of days.  This is the pattern that is emerging with the changing weather patterns.. If you are interested in following this .. Ventusky is a good site... it is easy to use once you play with it a bit.. scroll to zoom in and out... left click and hold to change locations.. click on the calendar to change date and look forward.. I have been using it for a few years now and find it to be very accurate..

I've only been in farming since 1961 and in many different countries from tropical to desert.

I still put my finger in the air each morning and evening and smell the air.

Of course I also take note of what is going on around me within nature whether it's for a day or a decade.

LOL  55555    a few years ago they were complaining that the lakes behind the dams were almost empty... and complaining of drought.

If it's too rainy.....  it's Climate Change Emergency

If it's drought..... it's Climate Change Emergency...

If it's too hot...  it's Climate Change Emergency

If it's too cold.... It's Climate Change Emergency..

The great thing about the Climate Change thing is...  no matter what happens... too much rain, too little...  too hot... too cold...  lots of bad storms... no storms....

Whatever.....  you can always claim "Climate Change"    Because Climate Change causes EVERYTHING AND ITS OPPOSITE.

Storms and hurricanes... Ask the Spanish about storms and hurricanes...   They lost lots of ships...  whole armadas...and cities on islands in the Caribbean to hurricanes in the Caribbean Sea and around the Philippines in the Pacific.. and an invasion fleet they had planned for England got destroyed by a very horrible violent storm...   All that was back in the 1500's... 1600's... 1700's...

Blame Climate Change...     But what was the atmospheric CO2 level and average temperature back then?

Global Warming/Climate Change/ Climate Crisis/Climate Emergency/Climate Disaster... or whatever other name they are calling it... this week....  is the perfect tool to use to demand lots of tax money, and to demand people change their lifestyles...  give up their cars, stop flying...return to horse and buggy and sailing ships. Plan on it taking a couple of months to get anywhere else in the world,   (wonder how most expats in Thailand and Equador and Malaysia, and Panama and Vietnam and Philippines got to the countries they now live in ? ? By sailboat ? ? )

I predict that you will NEVER see Al Gore, Lenoardo DiCaprio, David Suzuki, Barack Obama or any of the other leftist elites pushing the Climate Change scam change THEIR jet setting multi-mansion lifestyles...

(Barack Obama just bought a $14,800,000.00 mansion on the coast of Martha's Vineyard right by the water.  So much for him crying about sea level rise.)

Anyone who has to wonder is not really following the news, in my country weather certainly changed. Now people say it changed here too. So I am quite sure weather is changing and becoming more extreme. Its evident. So its not having to wonder its having to wonder how much WE did to cause it and how much is natural.

In my area where I'm living now.. (back in my home country of Canada for a while) weather has gotten much LESS extreme.   In the Niagara Region in my area we haven't had a devastating tornado since the late 1890's...

http://www.ontariostorms.com/specific/stkitts-1898/

and we haven't had a deadly destroying and killing hurricane come up from the Caribbean and hit us since 1954.. (Hurricane Hazel)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Hazel

....   Haven't had a killing horrible killing freezing deep snow blizzard since 1977.  (The White Death.. the Blizzard of '77)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_of_1977

Our climate here has really gotten kind of nicer.. The farmers are loving it for their crops,  Their huge farming operations are doing great...  people here in this part of the world are enjoying it.

But right now it's getting kind of cool again.  Our freezing winter is on its way.  Already missing the nice hot summer with all the plants and trees alive and green and colorful flowers...   They're all going to die again until next Spring...  The world looks dead and white and freezing cold in our winters here.

Climate Change..    the cause of everything and its opposite.. We must submit...  change our ways...

Building Socialism/Marxist-Leninism on a world scale is the only thing that will  "Save the Planet"

All the comrades must work together and give up their elaborate lifestyle... (except for the elites like Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Barack Obama and David Suzuki, Greta Thunberg and the rest of those worthy comrades who are better than us)

Well of course climate change is real.   When was it NOT real.  I learned in school that this planet has ALWAYS had climate change.  Ever since the planet got water and an atmosphere.

I can say that at my home in Canada close to Niagara Falls... that 24,000 years ago there was a massive continent size ice sheet a mile or two thick... covering at least half of North America to a depth of one or two miles..

It was the last Glacial Period.. and it lasted about 85,000 years... Not nice.

Oops...oh oh... . climate changed and it started melting back about 20,000 years ago, sea levels rose fast... slowing about 8,000 years ago... (Now sea level rise is rising only about 1mm - 2.5mm per year...if that) ..., the permafrost melted....  The planet warmed up..   Now we have forests, rivers, lakes, farms, cities....

We have our little changes... like the Holocene Climactic Optimum... the Minoan Warm Period, The Roman Warm Period...  all separated by colder periods...

We had the Medieval Warm Period..  the Little Ice Age.

During all those years.... the fact is that mankind and civilization ALWAYS did better and made the greatest advances during the WARMER periods... not the cold periods.

Our climate has improved greatly...  Adapt to it and enjoy it.

If you prefer it colder... there are some great Real Estate deals in little Arctic villages in Canada on the shores of the Arctic Ocean....  or in Alaska there is a nice little place called Barrow... on the north Arctic shore.    It might be cool enough for you there.  I've heard they even have a movie theatre, bowling alley, and supermarket..

By the way...  right now... we are still in an Ice Age.     Don't expect it to last forever....  And we are also due for another Glacial Period relatively soon..  Really NOT nice.

Hello... You're welcome.  My whole point is that climate has always changed... and will always change... no matter what we do or don't do.  If we were to disappear tomorrow... climate would continue to change... as long as there is the Sun and as long as this planet has an atmosphere and water.

Sometimes climate changes fast.. sometimes slow... sometimes a little... sometimes a lot.

Totalitarians who wish to totally turn society upside down and build some sort of all powerful government control over people... and build some sort of Socialist/Fascist/Marxist-Leninist/Communist sytem are using Climate Change as a tool.. a weapon in their arsenal to undermine and bring down western free enterprise capitalist society.... what is left of it.

A lot of them have already admitted it..    They are starting to not even bother hiding that fact anymore. More and more often at demonstrations... you are beginning to see the blood red flags.... and sometime the hammer and sickle.

ps population trend doesn't help.

I read recently that for "us" to warm the oceans by 1 degree would take 35,000 years using all the resources we can employ!

I think you might be wrong. We could raise the temperature of all the oceans a lot quicker than that.

Using all the resources humans have, it would only take about 32,000 years to raise temperature of the oceans by 1 degree. ????????
