'We're a team': Greta Thunberg visits Barack Obama

Wow, a shill and an abject failure who made tons of money via government service by never creating anything. Will she pose with Jimmy Carter, next?

Disabled? She's probably got an IQ that exceeds yours by at least 20 points. Read her test scores.

There is a difference between being disabled and having a low IQ .

Or do you think that all disabled people are unintelligent .

May I give Stephen Hawking as an example of disabled people having a high I.Q

About 1.5 degrees and accelerating. Although that's from 1990, not 1799

and what was the prediction then?

And no figures from since the Industrial Age started? If not, how can it be caused by man?

Solar and wind don't add heat or carbon dioxide, fossil fuels do.

And are there  no concomitant environmental consequences to those, either?

It's heat absorbed by the oceans that is going to change the world if we don't wean ourselves off fossil fuels. Hurricane Dorian will look like a tea party compared to what is coming. Bye bye Florida Keys.

Been hearing that one for a while, mate. Just another furfy.

ALL evidence was considered. Are u suggesting that over 1000 of the worlds leading scientists requsted by UN and nasa to study all the findings of others were swayed?

Yes, I am. Paid or bullied. Right now if you dare to try to publish anything against the religion you'll be branded and thrown out. It's become fundamentalist.

And like clockwork...

I see the most immediate threat as the wholescale deforestation of the Amazonian rainforest. The planet's lungs.

No they're not. The seas provide enough oxygen to sustain life on earth.  A famous quote 'We're all doomed Cap't Mannering.'

Quote

Most of Earth's oxygen comes from the tiny ocean plants – called phytoplankton – they live near the water's surface and drift with the currents

"She is the political leader for the age of Trump because she is in every way his opposite. Her activism is not an attempt at participation. It’s an intervention."

Thunberg’s message of logic and the basic belief that humanity is capable of moral action lands precisely because we are living in a time dominated by a man who continuously spews nonsense based on the premise that the world is rancid to the core.

Michael Mann on Greta Thunberg:

https://www.newsweek.com/greta-thunberg-donald-trump-true-leadership-climate-change-free-world-1461147

"Greta Thunberg has, in the space of a year, shown more leadership potential than the President has in his entire life. She has united her generation and turned her lone school strike for climate first into a movement—"Fridays For Future"—and now into a global protest 4 million souls strong. While the President remains content to be reduced to a sniveling online troll, Greta has taken to the streets and organized for political action. Who exactly is the child here?"

Not taking anything away from Greta, but it is fairly easy to show more leadership than Trump. Boy Scout troop leaders do it every day. Obeying every wish of any lobbyist who sits in the Oval office is not exactly the kind of leadership the American people need.

OK. Then what does settled science tell me the temperature was the year before the Industrial revolution began around the entire globe?

Are you alleging that one must be an expert before one asks a question? Sort of kills the politics topics here.

Now we're getting somewhere. Not a single word of climate anymore, straight to the jugular, she's the new saviour, the last hope against Trump. There's the motivation.

Science is not settled. No need to be a scientist to know that.

Climate changes have occurred for aeons, and climate theories are just theories.

If man-made influence on climate would become a certainty, the risks of man-made economical and humanitarian catastrophes would probably be higher than climate catastrophes.

While the eminent scientists go on studying climate changes, it would be great if world governments show us something real, by reducing the pollution, but i see very little happening.

Why ? Because quick money and  quick profit rule; without changing rulers, nothing serious can be done.

( i'm not promoting socialism, just saying how it is, imho)

Wow. Simplistic, zealot, Leftist. Loser. I'm wondering how many ad hominem arguments you can combine in a post.

Could it possibly be you are a denier zealot?

In one way, you are correct. We are seeing a natural occurrence. It's nature reacting to what the human race is doing. Deforestation and burning of the Amazon. Larsen Ice Shelf melting faster than any time in recorded history. Extinction of vulnerable species. Coral dieback on the Great Barrier Reef at levels not seen before.

I'll try to bring thermodynamics down to a level you can comprehend. Put simply, the human race has been digging up fossil fuels and burning them at unprecedented rates since the Industrial Revolution. So heat and carbon dioxide are being pumped out. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states heat cannot of its own accord pass from a colder to a hotter body. The oceans are colder, so they absorb the heat produced. And carbon dioxide, which brings in another issue of acidification and coral death. But I digress.

Warmer oceans have two effects. One is the melting of icecaps. The other is the intensification of hurricanes/typhoons/cyclones. That's what is happening as I try to explain these simple facts to you.

Why do you think insurance companies are recalibrating their risk assessments for seaboard communities, banks are refusing to loan to coal mine developments, and militaries are assessing their bases for vulnerability worldwide? Are they all Leftist zealots too?

dude, the ocean takes around 800 years to respond to any climate change, there is no melting of anything going on as a result of man, watch from 25 minutes

British comedians.

I thought they only fell down, made googoo faces, cross dressed, groped, farted and discussed bodily functions in indecipherable accents?

Comedy has improved then? Can they make Asian jokes or do they go to jail for it?

Cleese used to make Nazi jokes as well as Franco ones, but I'm guessing Fawlty Towers would get him put in prison today.

And it looks like Macron has just been bitten by Greta the Great. Don't get your fingers too close to a vicious crank or they'll get nipped.

Quote

His government leapt to this defence too, with ecological transition minister Brune Poirson warning: “You cannot mobilise with despair, almost hatred.”

Education minister Jean-Michel Blanquer added: “France is today a locomotive in (fighting climate change) and Président Macron has done a lot on the issue.

You mustn’t create a generation of depressed people over this issue,” he warned.

And how is that?
We already are seeing migration, away from countries and regions, that don't offer enough opportunities to the people living there!
What do you think will happen, when the last well dries up, due to even longer and more devastating droughts?
The people from those regions will not just sit there and wait for death!
The right is already screaming bloody murder about the "waves of immigrants", coming into Europe or the US!
What do you think the future holds in that regard?

Reverse osmosis?

I think most agree that we should continue the path of less pollution by improving alternative energy and yes, most if not all agree we should not throw plastic bags in the sea. And i do believe humans are partly the cause of global climate change. The question here is; do we need Greta for this?
The reference to Hitler was not to support his evil disgusting actions but the comparison how some individuals can influence the masses is valid. Lenin would have been a safer reference but with the same symptoms that people blindly believe and follow. So people like Greta could speed up our down fall rather than being a cure. The world is not a simplistic model about stolen youth and dreams but a very balanced act between politics, religion and countries. I don’t like to see uneducated people have a say in this.
