Does anyone use a mail forwarding service in the US that they can recommend? Preferably in NY or conneticut.

DHL offer excellent service...a parcel dispatched from the UK reached me 2 days after dispatch at my local post office in Suphan Buri...must be some kind of record.

However DHL is expensive and not widely available in Thailand outside of BKK, Pattaya and etc...for purposes of outgoing mail

Are you looking for a company to ship some thing for you or are you looking for an address that can recieve and foreward your mail,?like a mail drop.

If thats the case and you have an american express credit card they will do it to an american express office near you, at least they used to do it when I was on a cruising boat.

My guess is he is referring to a "mail drop" or what the U.S. Post Office now insists is a PMB (Private Mail Box) with forwarding services.
