A record number of people from the public and private sectors took part in the many pageants held in Nakhon Si Thammarat province to mark the annual Buddhist day of making merit on September 27. Apart from alms given to monks, some of the donations were offered to ghosts of the ancestors of donors.

Sure, but  the silver lining is it is something you can do without making merit.????

If you missed out, send me your money, I'll go to the temple and make merit for you.  I'm just that kind of guy.  ????

Right you guys above,

in sophisticated countries this doesn't happens.

There nobody spend even one cent on religion. There are no preachers has own tv stations, privat jets, 100 cars, etc.

Oohh for a second i had the USA in mind but i must be wrong. This is only with monks in Thailand. Silly me.
