ExGirlfriend Holding My Stuff At Randsome

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I ended a 4yr relationship a few weeks back. The house we rented is in her name but my clothes, imac camera etc are there. She wants a huge amount of money to get it back go me...

So yesterday I called the police to the house and he said theres not much that can be done as the house is her name! So today Im going to the actual police station with a thai friend to see what I can do; my ex has ALL of my stuff. What is the best way to move forward here??

  • Go back and start sleeping there.  Who said you moved out?  Then when she is not expecting it, get your things and leave.

  • Apparently the police can be made to do their job if you pay them....

  • Have you got enough money to just walk away and leave the stuff?

Hilarious, everyone mentioned running away - why?

The 2 items he mentions, iMac and camera are expensive items.

why not just go round and take it, i assume you have your own set of keys?

Pay a cop 1000 baht to come with you if you must.

Anything you attempt will result in more grief for you than a few material goods are worth.

Just let it go.

I can’t believe they wouldn’t let you get your clothes?  Yes, you can’t break in. How did it come about that you left with nothing and no key?

You could record her threats and then report her for extortion.  Or get a lawyer to negotiate to give you the things or get reported.  You can’t steal someone’s things and threaten to sell them back because you are angry.

Just camp outside the house till she appears, then strike....

I've seen a few posts on here lately about getting a lawyer.......why oh why does he need a lawyer?

They'd want more than the items are worth and achieve nothing.

Just curious but how much is the ransom?

Your at a big disadvantage here (Thailand) anyone tells you different is dreaming.

If she has half a brain she will tell cops you owe it for rent or what ever

You will lose so learn from it....KISS keep it simple st#@!

If you really want the stuff & ransom is not too bad just make your final payment to this person & move on

If not just move on

Well I agree a lawyer is usually unhelpful here, but if police won’t help ...just keep in mind that what she is doing is a crime.  You lived there, your things are there, you did not have a chance to get them yet, this is not a dispute about who bought the TV, obviously male clothing is not hers, pretty obviously a computer in English with all your details in it is not hers, etc. Your bank book is not hers.   Just like a landlord cannot one day just lock you out and keep all your things because he doesn’t like you???  Can he???

Problem in Thailand is as always you have no defense.

Thai rak Thai

At the end of day if he makes it bad enough or he makes her lose face bad enough it could get much much uglier

She could claim not only he owes her back rent but he abused her or any other lie she wants to tell

Police will believe who?

Another reason why walking away and buying yourself a brand new camera and computer is such a good idea.
