I had a multi-entry visa and they didn't accept it

Featured Replies

they forced me to book the exit ticket for Malaysia and they made me a stamp where they converted my multi-entry visa from a single entry.  they told me that I've been to Thailand too many times so I can't go on a tourist visa anymore. I've always behaved well and I've never done anything wrong..this happen in Krabi airport. I'm here now but I'm really sad

At least you are in.

Can you post a photo of what they did to your visa? (edit any personal data)

I've had issues a couple times at Krabi, coming in on visa exempt entries.

Even though I was just staying for a couple days and flying on to U.K

They aren't the most welcoming there ????

You've posted on the wrong forum, this is for visas and immigration to other countries, ie not Thailand.

I'll move to the correct forum.

They aren't deterring genuine tourists. They are deterring people living here on tourist visas. Millions of tourists come every year with no problem. The OP didn't elaborate on his previous entry to Thailand. It might actually be useful to know how many times is too many.

But he had a good multi-entry visa it is just more proof that the rules are different at the different offices. One place issues a legal multi-entry visa and another branch of the Immigration decides to not only reject it but change it

Thai consulates are not connected to imm. Its is common for consulate to issue a visa and border control (esp at airports) reject entry esp if passport reveals ongoing history of basically living in los

Could not agree more.

Just to note that the Thai consulates (esp in the region) seem to be coming into line with change of attitude at border control.

Some consulates only issuing one setv etc.

I agree with you. Thai imm is a laughing stock. Would it be too hard to have rule such as max days in any given calendar year on visas and visa exempt etc.

Becoming Russian roulette for frequent visitors.

I don't think there is any need for his Thailand visit history. Thai IOs have become very adept at spotting people living in Thailand. I think bottom line is they really don't care if you have money or not, working illegally or not, they're simply trying to reduce people living in Thailand on Tourist visa. People with self respect will stop living in Thailand on Tourist visas but addicts will sneak in trhough land borders.

So you want to say, well behaving modern slaves, with only 4 weeks holiday a year, are welcome BUT those who can afford to holiday many months are not?
Since when is the definition of a Tourist bound to a certain length or duration?

I agree with stating, if only visiting once a year, you have no problem BUT that doesn't justify this behaviour, aside of the Thai law not forbidding it.
+ why hand out visa's to people if it is not legitimate?

The problem is that it extends throughout all government departments because they have the discretion to apply their own rules.

I live in Chiang Mai Province, If I renew my drivers licence at the DLT head office in Chiang Mai I can use my Pink ID card as proof of residency, if I renew it at the local office they want a residency certificate from Immigration.

Just another cultural thing we westerners cannot comprehend.

They are welcomed, but Thai Immigration made clear in recent years that they "prefer" a lot that people staying long time in Thailand use Non Immigrant visas...

There is no written rule (that I know) but it's clearly what is happening.

[BUT those who can afford to holiday many months are not?]....  those who can afford to holiday for many months can afford an Elite Visa.

For the purposes of perspective it would be beneficial to this thread to know the Ops Visa history to Thailand.

But, those who are here for 2-3 months a year are not facing issues, they are still genuine tourists. It is the 'perpetual tourists', those who are here permanently who seem to be facing additional scrutiny.

The Logic of the Immigration officers must be: If under retirement age how can they fund themselves? Rich / Wealthy, then get the Elite Visa, otherwise I guess they suspect you must be working in Thailand.

Most people living in Thailand on TVs are brothel addicts living on 40BHT unhygenic pork soup from street vendors and living in a 6K rental 25sqm room. I don't think any rich person holidaying through out the world are ever denied for entering Thailand. Do you thinks IOs are stupid. They know what type of people holiday aroubd in Thailand. Can you name one other country in the World where farangs have married more brothel workers than Thailand?

So you want to say now that the monks gave IO's a blessing and they can sense who is rich? Absolute nonsense, enough people with money refused.
Generalising long stayers is even worse, if most of them frequented brothels so much, it should been more busy.

I'd agree with you, apart from the pork soup, and the room.

I made pancakes with sliced banana, ice cream and chocolate sauce for lunch, cost about 10bht.

And I live in a new 3 bed/3 shower moobaan house (150sqm = garden) that costs 11k/month for the home loan.

What exactly is wrong with a guy wanting to have sex with a selection of young, slim and attractive women?

I've got one living with me and it's great!

The power of cooking at home; home made pizza with spinach and bacon + 2 cheeses at 30B. So now people know the margins hehe.

Its just an observation. The question comes down to who is a tourist and who is living here? Clearly a very fluid subjective decision made by Thai Immigration. When I say millions of tourists come here with no problem I mean they come for 30 days or less, eat in restaurants, stay in hotels, and their possessions fit into a moderate size luggage bag. On the other hand if you have a bank account, a 1 year house/condo lease, a car, a Thai drivers license, more possessions than you can carry, and maybe a Thai family and children then you probably are not a tourist. There is a fairly big gap in between these poles and I for one think there should be a category for those, call them "long stay tourists". However that is apparently not the case now and people in that middle category should know that they are risk if they intend to return to Thailand.

I get 90 day non-o VISA for visiting my son, wish it was for longer, but I'll take what I can get.

No limit on the number I can have, currently on my 10th.

The difference in cost between a METV and an SETV is around 4000 baht, so you have been fleeced, seeing as I very highly doubt they returned the difference to you!

Yet another story of Thai immigration which should be made public.

Perhaps I am going blind, but I see no evidence of "Multiple" printed anywhere ????

That is because the attachment is an entry stamp and not a visa

Then they should offer visa's that match those set-ups, which they don't. It only exist for 50+ people.
Don't tell me the Elite visa is that solution, that is a milk cow.

Aside of them having welcomed those same people for decades, took their money, and now refuse them.
It is not like they didn't know this before, they did. It is called stabbing one in the back.

Then some say, people abused the system for years, I say nonsense again. They motivated people to do so, while being totally aware.
Wanting to become Thailand 4.0 (laughing), I understand they want to do it different now BUT then they should introduced proper visa options before declining people. Obviously I am talking to a wall expecting this, as there is no logic in this country.

Plus, they are more than happy to extend tourist visa's while the address is an apartment, never questioned.
It is simply selective behaviour by IO's at airports / borders, can't talk it good.

Elite visa can save you, but it is expensive.
