Random searches/urine tests of foreigners in the Sukhumwit area (especially around the Asoke intersection area) was very common a few years ago, to the extent this outrage made the international press. I had a business contact overlooking the area, and we would watch the villains at it every day; the vermin would even drag folks from taxis.

Don't underestimate what the Thai police can or can't do, they are a law unto themselves.

I guess this is why they now need the Indians. Social media very damaging. I know they would never harass their Chinese tourists because their President would have something to say and the Thais would beg for forgiveness. It's a shame Western leaders are so pathetic at protecting their Citizens.

There is nothing you can do to speed it up and those who asking for "donation" could be  trying to scam.

But it all depends on WHY she is getting deported, is there a court order? or immigration made the decision?

Is it due to being convicted or visa over stay.

If its a court order, then she has to wait for court documents to reach immigration, for it then to reach detention, for them then to process it and make arrangements.

If its decision of immigration, then it should not be taking long time and perhaps hold up is either wanting donation or something is not right

That's funny because 30 years in East Asia, Thailand I'd always heard that it was 30k. 10k bribe to make it disappear before charges.

Have to be really dim to have weed on you here. Don't feel least bit sympathetic.

be careful what you hear then

Be thankful, in some countries in South East Asia, it can be the death penalty if they suspect you of bringing drugs into the country.

Just being pedantic but death penalty even if suspected of importing, don't even need to go to court?

any farang with half a brain will have a med prescription and luckily, us old timers are not the type that cops think do this stuff!!!

Sorry but I failed the half of a brain test and feel quite envious.I have heard that THC can expand the mind so I've spent most of my life trying to do that and am almost there.Pass the bong!

In the Philippine they will shoot you before you have a chance to understand what is happening.

In other threads, people say that these people should learn their lesson, hit rock bottom, not be helped, grow up, learn the hard way and they deserve what they get.  they will never learn if we don't allow them to get punished fully.

Same with this drug user?    Use the same logic, meaning she will never learn if you bail her out.  she will be a druggie in the next country and expect you to help her again.  she must wake up and grow up or maybe you will be arrested with her and she will do more and more drugs.....once this dumb, will it get worse??

Just wondering if it's the same logic here.  If loser farang gets drunk and arrested, we want them in jail forever and we condem them for all eternity.  doing drugs is worse, yes??

Please consider the possibility that your conception of what marijuana is, compared to other drugs, may have been influenced by political propaganda.

please explain to me what a reasonable person should think about doing drugs before coming to Thailand....after reading this

can you meet her at the police station and tell the cops what your rules on for doing drugs?  lol

Penalties[edit]

Possession, cultivation, and transport (import/export) of up to 10 kg (22 lb) of cannabis may result in a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a fine. Possession, cultivation, and transport of more than 10 kg is punishable by 2 to 15 years in prison and/or a fine. For the majority of people arrested for simple possession of small quantities of cannabis a fine, rather than prison time, is imposed. Narcotics police in Thailand view methamphetamine (Thai: ยาบ้า; RTGSya ba) as a more serious issue.[2]

  • From 2 to 10 years' imprisonment or a fine of 40,000–100,000 baht or both for disposal or possession for the purpose of disposal.
  • Imprisonment not exceeding five years and or a fine not exceeding 100,000 baht or both for possession.
  • Imprisonment not exceeding one year and a fine of 100,000 to 1 million baht for consumption

I completely agree with your point that people should follow the law of the country they are in.  I'm only suggesting this,  with full respect for your opinion, and really only as a suggestion:

"Please consider the possibility that your conception of what marijuana is, compared to other drugs, may have been influenced by political propaganda."

Who is the idiot here ?

Millions of people smoke weed in Thailand and it's perfectly safe if you are not an idiot. But I really understand that it's better for you to avoid it ????

10 years ago this forum used to be helpful.

I guess a decade of beer, viagra and bargirls took its toll so now it’s mainly disgruntled old cynics throwing rocks and laughing at a girl in shackles.

I would sincerely appreciate if an admin would delete this thread. The situation is messed up enough without the armchair judges and their pointless insults.

So true ! So right ! you said it a lot better than me, because I would use only 1 word to define all the scumbs on this forum...
