Did my annual retirement at Saraburi Immigration today.

In and out in about 20 minutes with no mention of possible mandatory insurance in the future.

Wore smart shorts and collar shirt.

Easy peasy

When was it 'due'?

13th November.

Went early so the 90 day reporting would also be within the time frame.

What kind of underlying Visa from the past did you have underpinning your annual extension of stay?  Non O or Non-OA?

Non-Immigrant O

Any maybe that's why they didn't say anything about insurance being required next because many believe it will only apply to those who have a Non-OA as the underpinning visa from Christmas past.

Then again, maybe it's because you were just renewing your extension and what the previous visa was (non-O or non-OA) is simply not in play.

Been no shortage of strong opinions and interpretations of the latest police order.

I have just entered the sixth year of my retirement here and I found the procedure in the Nakhon Phanom office much more time-consuming than in previous years, perhaps because I began with a mistake. I got a letter from the bank on Wednesday confirming that I had 800,000 deposited and I went to the immigration office on Thursday morning. There I was told that the letter from the bank and the application must have the same date. They also said that they would not accept the form of address used by the bank clerk, and they wrote down what they wanted. When those two items were corrected and all my papers were in order, an immigration officer spent more than 30 minutes looking through my passport, checking and comparing stamps and dates, and studying the entries in my bank book. He was a very pleasant man and I was tempted to ask what he was looking for, but I decided not to. The only comment he made was that he was happy that I had left my 800,000 undisturbed for five years.
