Naew Na reported that a Russian building contractor had been arrested in Chonburi.

The Russian man had been hiding out in Thailand after allegedly swindling the Russian prosecutor's office over the contract for a building in the city of Sergach.

His arrest came after a helpful member of the public in Thailand contacted immigration to report him which led to contact with the Russian embassy over the man's status.

An Interpol notice was out for his arrest.

It was discovered that he had been in and out of Thailand since December 2011 with the latest arrival being at Ban Pakard, Chanthaburi, in September of last year.

He had been given a one month permission of entry into Thailand but had overstayed by 347 days when Chonburi immigration came calling.

He has allegedly swindled the Russian prosecutor's office out of 20 million baht in the building deal.

On this occasion no mention was made of Immigration's biometrics system, notes Thaivisa.

Looks like he maybe annoyed a local who snitched on him. No police work going off there just a random result from chance ... Interpol notice out for him too (probably for a while).

They didn't mention the biometrics - because, apparently, they didn't work. lol

I suppose it could have been down to someone not bothering to check the Interpol Red Notices against passport details?

Either way, it's still the police not working - well, we know how faulty they are.

Sounds and looks like a very nice man. Vlad and company should be very pleased that he's been apprehended.

I think swindling the Russian prosecutors office is about as daft and riskier a crime as I can think of

Agreed, but I'm sure there must be some (including this guy) who would see it as the ultimate challenge.

The police must be going broke making elaboret picture boards. This time the board should be reduced to only 1 picture, the guy who put the cuffs on him. Or maybe the "concerned netizen" who fingered him.

I'm sure the "concerned netizen" who fingered him would already have put a cross in the 'no publicity' box.

Note how big each kiddies picture is on the white board, do they need reading glasses. The map of Thailand is as big as a car door, LOL!

If you mean fingerprints they have not been taken that long.

It isn't clear from the OP when the Interpol notice was posted, perhaps you have more

information on this.
