Popular Post webfact
Famous Thai musician ‘Add’ Carabao urges Government not to bow to US pressure Credit Photo : facebook.com/BuffalosfollowThamma/ Well known “Song for Life” rocker ‘Add’ Carabao is urging the Thai government not to bow to the “bully tactics” being used by the United States when it suspended USD1.3 billion in trade preferences for Thailand, under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program, on the grounds that Thailand has not taken sufficient steps to protect labour rights. The suspension, which takes effect in six months, will affect about a third of Thailand’s products included in the trade program and duty-free treatment of Thailand’s seafood exports to the US will be revoked. ‘Add’, or Mr. Yuenyong Opakul, pointed out in his Facebook post that the GSP suspension came just a few days after Thailand’s National Hazardous Substances Committee banned herbicides paraquat and chlorpyrifos and insecticide glyphosate effective December 1st. Tariff reviews take months, so it is actually unlikely that the US suspension of preferences was directly tied to Thailand's decision on the farming chemicals. Whatever the case, this musician's reaction trying to rally the Thais is exactly what could have been expected. You see, Thais are NEVER wrong and it is ALWAYS someone's fault. 20 1 1

Popular Post donnacha
Terrific idea. Do not bow to America's unreasonable demands that you stop placing unfair restrictions on American businesses exporting to or operating in your country, while your businesses benefit from a high degree of freedom in the American market. I am amazed that all the asymmetries in global trade were left unaddressed for so long, seems ridiculous that America did not insist upon straightforward reciprocity decades ago. 14 1

Popular Post Orton Rd
One of the richest blokes in the country who is that Thai centric he spent 70 million quid on his football project in the UK. He would be better off turning his attention to problems at home like the vast wealth gap, the massacre on the roads and rampant corruption, but then he would come under fire. This is a billionaire who dresses like a tuk tuk driver and who calls Prayuth an elder brother, not to to taken seriously. holy cow cm
And his band is appropriately named buffalo. I like Add and have met him before, but he needs to think first. Paraquat should be banned and I am not a glyphosphate fan by all means as hate the company and their iron fisted control, but replacement measures need to be put into place before it is phased out. It will simply hurt the Thai farmers and exports as well as banning the US imports that had used it.

I know your a bit bias at times so facts dont matter that much. hailand’s average applied Most Favored Nation (MFN) tariff rate was 12.5% ad valorem in 2017. Approximately one-third of Thailand’s MFN tariff schedule involves duties of less than 5%, and 30% of tariff lines are MFN duty free, including chemicals, electronics, industrial machinery, and paper. Thailand has bound all tariffs on agricultural products in the WTO, but only around 70% of its tariff lines on industrial products are bound.Thailand has bound its agricultural tariffs at an average of 39.5% ad valorem, compared with its average applied MFN tariff on agricultural products of 25.1%. MFN duties on imported processed food products range from 30% to 50%, which limits the ability of U.S. exporters of such products to compete in the Thai market. Tariffs on meats, fresh fruits (including citrus fruit and table grapes) and vegetables, fresh cheese, and pulses (such as dry peas, lentils, and chickpeas) are similarly high.Thailand’s average bound tariff for non-agricultural products is approximately 25.6%. Thailand levies high tariffs on goods such as: 80% on motor vehicles, 60% on motorcycles and certain clothing products, 54% to 60% on distilled spirits, and 30% on certain articles of plastic and restaurant equipment. Further, the country charges tariffs of 10% to 30% on certain audiovisual products, and applies a 10% tariff on most pharmaceutical products, including products on the World Health Organization list of essential medicines.Thailand maintains the same list of tariff-rate-quota (TRQ) from its commitments under WTO agreement on agriculture since 2004. Thailand imposes domestic purchase requirements for several tariff-rate quota products, including nonfat dry milk, soybeans, soybean meal, and fresh potatoes. https://www.export.gov/article?id=Thailand-Import-Tariffs 1
Popular Post baboon
"“Have you seen the character of America? They have no regard whatsoever for the lives of the people, only their own vested interests. The Thai government must not bow to them,” said the rocker, as he urged Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit to try to secure new markets for Thai exports. ‘Add’ said he was dumbfounded by the US allegation that Thailand has failed to take steps to protect labour rights, noting that former labour minister Adul Saengsingkaeo and labour officials had tried their best to improve labour rights and protections in Thailand." Ahh, so basically the man is an establishment bootlicker and bourgeois nationalist who doesn't even care that his government are the army who rigged an election. About as Rock and Roll as Pat Boone. But the reality of Add Buffalo spouting off like this without knowing the detrimental huge financial effects that it will cause to Thailand's imports and exports and domestic markets is absurd. A Thai friend of mine who is a business owner had mentioned that his energy drink and investments were hugely at a loss. I wonder if he was able to turn that around. He needs to stick to playing music. 3

Fairs fair right ? Also don’t let them buy our property or businesses just for good measure . Make it a very FAIR deal .

Popular Post happy chappie
And what are the tariffs on the 40 billion of free trade that trump has banned? It doesn't help when big mouths in the Thai government spew out they are going to move goods and manufacturing from china to undermine the trade war between china and the US.if you jump in on a fight between to big boys expect a black eye at the least. thailand has failed to do anything about the IUU fishing, human rights and slavery industry. thats apart from having a Mickey Mouse government of military. 3

zhounan
Sorry to say, but since the end of World War II, the United States, through its shadow government, has been applying bully tactics consistently in every corner of the world. The list of crimes is endless and it is time to end this Imperialism. China and Russia, for better or for worse, will necessarily have to lower the head of the Leviathan Empire, for world peace and break the debt currency scam of the Anglo-Saxon moneylender finance. These years are optimal to change the world balance.
