i'm new on the forum and would like to know peoples opinions on what pick-up to buy. its a toss up between the vigo and the triton. what are the pros and cons? i want 4 door, diesel, not sure i need 4 wheel drive, but dont like the small wheels on the 2 wheel version or can these be changed.whats the turn circle like? as on the old mitsu strada it was awfull!!

similar prices but people say the toyota holds its price better and parts are cheaper, is this true? i'd really apreciete any input.

Our company has both, currently the Triton has some really good financing available and a good extras package, making the top of the range triton a bit cheaper.

If you are looking for something SUV like, and like a nice interior - I would go for the Triton, whereas if you want something like a solid workhorse go for the Vigo, The Trident is quite a noisy car but I'm enjoying it.

i had same thoughts, but it was between vigo and d max, went for the vigo very happy with it, no regrets at all. i thought the Pre-Runner was the new version but not sure. mine is 2 wheel drive, i went for manual but wished i had gone for the Auto. Samui roads very busy a lot of changing gear, but personnel choice.

The Pre runner is a down spec version of the 4 wheel drive, but looks the same in ride height & general appearance. But as the OP required it's a 2 wheel drive.

Sorry to all the Toyota lovers but my first pick up in los [about 4 yrs ago] was a toyota of which the bottom end fell out on the way to Kon Khen, luckly my mate was following in a Mitsubishi G Wagon, also we were lucky to find a garage 2 ks up the road the guy fixed our pick up and we picked it up on the way back to patters at a cost of about £600.00. maybe i got a bad one but had nothing but trouble with that motor. have had mitsibishis since then just my opinion but we now have a Triton and its a fantastic bit of kit.

we also hired a Toyota Camry 2.2 jobi on one trip whe we didnt have a car and that fckkker had an engine prob so we had to take it to a garage up in Nokonsawon to get it fixed.

maybe me and Toyotas just wernt meant to be!

I bought a pick up about a year and a half ago,,,, my preference was also a Toyota Vigo,, based on what i thought was a better re-sale price when the time came to sell,,, however when i went to buy,, i was told a minimum 3 month waiting for order,,, i tried various other toyota dealers on the mainland ,,, but to no avail,,, I went to the Isuzu dealer on Samui,, and was quoted 3 days waiting,,, so it was of to surat ,, 3 days later to pick up my Dmax,,LS 3 litre automatic 4 wheel drive, 4 door cab, 18 months and 40,000km later still going strong only had to change battery,, last november in Kalasin had a major shunt up the back end from a Mitsubishi Lancer ,, The Dmax stood up so proud only superficial damage whereas the Mitsu was a write off, ok i know it was only a car,, but if gave me peace of mind that the good old Dmax is a tough old girl,,, and i'm told by many of my thai frinds that come re-sale the thai people prefer the Dmax and therefore will get a better resale price,,, whether thats true or not i'm not sure,,,However i have not had the pleasure of driving or owning a vigo , i can only give you my experience of the D max,,, I'm more than happy with it,,, the fuel consumption is also very good in my opinion,

Totally agree with you. Have had a DMax 3.0 from new. No problems at all apart from the AirCon going U/S and that was caused by a cat blocking up the intake. Easily fixed but a bit messy.
