I got a cough from enalapril 10mg I switched to losaratan3 weeks ago I now cough up white phlegmatic stuff.are there any blood pressure meds that don't cause cough phlegm etc. My cardiologist wants me to switch to hydrochlorothiazide 25mg. I'm 58 with one stent and 60kg. Has anyone else had cough from these meds and successfully switched? Thank you

Amlodepine is fine for me.

It's the 20 Woodbines that cause the cough!    LOL

I am 71, no stents and 75kg.

The cough associated with ACE Inhibitors and (less often) ARBs is a dry cough. If you are coughing up white phlegm there may be something else going on.

I had a chest x-ray last week it was normal the phlegm also tested negative.i guess I will stop the losaraton and take the hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and see if it solves the problem. I know we are all different and have different reactions to different medications. I shall post an update if the change of meds works.

Five years ago I was suffering regularly from coughs; doctor took me off Enalapril and increased Hydralizine, and that did the trick.
