Three men - a soldier and two local officials - have given themselves up to Khu Tao police in Hat Yai after the fatal shooting of a fish head trader in his pick-up.

The victim was apparently chased by two Hat Yai municipal volunteers after refusing to submit to a urine test for drugs.

Dashcam footage showed a man armed with a shotgun approach the pick-up before the victim was killed.

Sgt Maj 1st Class Songwut gave himself up followed by Phlernchai and Pradit, the municipal volunteers. They were separately interviewed by police and did not speak to reporters.

The Songkhla police chief was in attendance.

The wife of the soldier said that he had nothing to do with it. He just happened to be there on his motorcycle and knew the two volunteers.

Plernchai is believed to be the shooter.

Pradit's sister said that her brother was just driving the other pick-up and had requested the urine test before the man tried to flee. He has claimed that his partner shot him.

The victim was 33 year old Deuromae or Bangmae.

Doubt this had anything to do with a drug test or the law.

When they make excuses they just do not seem to realise how stupid & guilty it makes them look. 3 friends just happen to meet, while not in uniform or on duty in fact the two who carry out the assassination are not even serving police or part of a VCP murder another man and have the audacity to say they asked for a urine check and when he said no so one of them murdered him? And that will hold water? Sad thing is probably yes.

smells fishy.... there's more to it

all 3 guilty, shooter, driver and stand by, all accomplices.  Wonder how much money was involved, nothing to do with urine test, other stuff not mention on the report must have been the reason
