That code i have since i bought this laptop...it's good because sometimes my fingerprint sensor doesn't work well.

No one has any access to my computer, so I don't need it locked, I don't watch porn anyway.????

I am certainly encountering problems with the task bar. Mine is set to hide when not in use, but sometimes it does not slide down again after using it. That never happened before the recent updates.

Not a big issue, but it can be irritating when I set up to watch a TV program and then have to go back and persuade the bar to 'disappear'.

I've also found that visiting TVF via the Edge Browser has become very tedious. Some are blaming the pop up adverts for this, but this has only happened since the updates, so I'm not so sure about that.

I've now switched to using Opera Browser when visiting TVF which proving to be much more stable.

The fact that you use edge says alot about you.

I have the same problem.

You've got me mystified.  The default for the taskbar is black.  Maybe you mean the title bar for windows?  If so, then go to Settings / Personalisation / Colours and scroll down to 'Choose your accent colour'.  Click on a blue box so that a tick appears in the ox but don't tick anything else.  Scroll down some more and click on the box next to 'Title bars and window borders' and that's it.

If you really want to twiddle with everything on the screen, maybe you should install an app named 'WinAeroTweaker'.

All problems reported to the relevant channels after installing update KB4517389, and seemingly rectified with KB4522355.

Because of the way I download updates (see above) I have not had these problems myself, I am only relaying what I have gleened from the internet

So do I, but I can't think of any other reasons that the screen and taskbar colours have changed, I haven't touched anything to cause that AFAIK.

I read about this a week ago, and it seems it had to do with certain Nvidia graphic boards. Here's a possible workaround:

"As Windows Latest points out, you should head to the Task Scheduler (search for it in the search box next to the Start menu), then double-click on Task Scheduler Library, double-click on Microsoft, then double-click on Windows.

Next, find and click on WindowsColorSystem, and in the Calibration Loader task (on the right), select the Triggers tab. Select ‘At Log on’ in that tab and click Disable, and do the same thing with the second entry ‘On connection to user session’.

You’ll need to reboot your PC for the changes to take effect, and fingers crossed, that will sort your monitor out and get it displaying colors correctly."

Explain!

By the way, it's 'a lot', not alot. Says a lot about you as well.

Edge do suck. Haven't you tried Google Chrome? Chrome has 55.4% of the market and Internet Explorer & Edge together 8.6%. Those numbers says all. Chrome is free to download. Just google it.

That still doesn't explain what you mean by 'that says alot (sic) about you'.

Windows 7 works perfectly well - exactly the way I like it and it stays the way I set it up - and updates are blocked.

Windows 10 aint going to infect my PCs and take them over - no chance - never ever.

My 2 PC's works perfectly with Windows 10. And if you never install the security updates for Win 7, you will soon have a dangerous PC.

The latest updates from Win 10 have caused all my screen colours to change. The taskbars and the actual screen colour have changed. The screen now has a yellowish tint, similar to nighttime mode that I am unable to change, and the task bars and menu bars also changed. Has anybody else had the same problems?

Did you check it's not just a hardware problem, by plugging in another monitor?

Also check the monitor cable is firmly pushed in at both ends or even try a new cable.

Using the F keys at the top of a laptop keyboard with or without the Fn key is a setting that can be changed in the BIOS (or UEFI in reality) of some laptops.  It's got nothing to do with Windows 10.  I have an Acer laptop that allows this setting to be changed so that you may choose.  If you mostly use the F1, F2, F3, F4, F... keys then you may do so without pressing the Fn key (as now) but if you mostly use the PC control functions then you can do that without pressing the Fn key.  I thought this setting was really useful.  Like you, I wasn't pleased when a BIOS update swapped the setting around the 'wrong' way for me and I'd think that is what's happened to you.

As this setting is rather buried it may be better to get a shop to do it for you, but if you'd like to have a go yourself, click on settings / Update & security / Recovery / Under Advanced startup, click on Restart now.  When 'Choose an option' appears, click on Troubleshoot and then click on Advanced.  In Advanced Options click on UEFI firmware settings and then click on Restart.  You should now be in the UEFI firmware settings.  Use the keyboard arrow keys to select the Main tab and you should see a setting 'Function key behaviour'.  You should be able to set this to Function key or Media key by pressing the space bar.  When finished, select the Exit tab and select Exit, saving the changes.  Providing you set the option to 'Media key' then you won't have to press Fn when changing the brightness in future.

Cheers mate, it works as usual again.

But what made these settings change? I want to turn that off...was it the Lenovo software or did windows do this?

As I said, it's got nothing to do with Windows 10.  You had a UEFI (what used to be called BIOS) update and that was what changed it.  You shouldn't try to stop those plus it's rather unlikely that you'll ever get another one anyway.  The update's down to somewhere in your Lenovo software and they wouldn't have done it if it wasn't really, really necessary.  I'd recommend that you be happy that things are back to normal and simply forget you ever had a problem.  You can't stop the world turning and moving on!

Sorry I've done done it again! Forgot to check the attribution. Thanks for letting me know.

Back to your advise ref browsers I've been quite happy with Edge up until these latest upgrades. I do use Crome sometimes to access a website that only functions properly on that browser.

However following the recent problems, I've switch to Opera and found it, thus far very reliable and user friendly. In particular TVF is much more stable and I no longer have to put up with those infuriating pop-up video adverts.

Windows 10 is double edge. On 1 hand it's slick and functional on the other hand it is always has some stupid issues coming and going.

A few weeks ago I was unable to rotate screen and the lock button was gone then it reappeared.

The latest update really affected my fan. It was all of a sudden very loud like it was broken. I found a fix online to change "cool mode" setting in BIOS to fix it.

For the yellowish tint. It has surely messed with the display settings and night mode. I would check the night mode settings and clock setting to make sure they are correct as first step.

Is there a way of disabling auto updates altogether? I can only put them off for a certain time then they are forced.

If you set your internet connection as metered Microsoft kindly doesn't download the massive files required for the update.

Had to reinstall Windows 10 as everything slowed down and booting in the mornings took minutes not seconds. Much better after I did that but a nuisance!

I had the same issue. I fixed it by running DISM and then SFC.

To run DISM:

open a command prompt as administrator and run the DISM command:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Let it run until it shows 100% completion.

The run the command:

sfc /scannow

Completely fixed the problem.

No idea, the updates are automatic, but happened in the last one two days ago.

If I were you, I'd run the Troubleshooter. Please see here:

P.S. I've had three updates, two on PC's, one on an older notebook, all are fine.

Thank you for that link which i have now watched, it'll be useful to me in future.  You didn't tell me that any boxes were greyed out, so that's a question I need to ask when I next see the problem.
