air purifier

Featured Replies

bought a new purifier for the coming smog season which seems to be here already. i live in pathum thani and the aqi index at bkk university right now is 112. unboxed the unit and plugged it in. reading came out at 30.

i live down a small soi with a lot of trees and bush around. quite a way away from all the traffic and shops etc.

a/c stays on pretty much 24/7 in my bedroom. room is about 5 meters by 5 meters. i have a sliding glass door from my room out to a balcony. opened the door for about 15 minutes and the reading shot up to over 60. closed the door and as i type it is back down to 36 and falling. after having the unit on for about an hour after first plugging it in the reading was down to around 21.

seems to be working but that could be just a make you feel good display. who really knows. anyways here is a link to the unit. good price and if this one doesn't work ill sort out a better one.

unit came quick - ordered it on wed and it came today. also saw some pm2.5 filter material that you can insert into the a/c unit. might be a good extra feature to add.

and a picture of the actual unit. reading is down to 32 now. looks like i will be holed up in my room.

bliss i tell ya.

Roughly what is the size of the machine? Does the air come out cooler or it feels like a fan blowing out the air?

Does anyone else have experiences with air purifiers here and know which ones are the recommended good ones?

Mine is similar to the above, the air is drawn in through the lower case, it is blown out the top, it does not cool the air, it is designed to filter/purify NOT cool.

approx size around 10" square by 18" tall. whisper quiet.

I am very pleased with its performance for the last 6+ months I have had it.

52x24x24 cm for mine so about the same ya. super quiet and sitting at a reading of 12 now.

not sure how long the filter is going to last though. my ac filters need to be cleaned every 2 weeks. so dirty in pathum.

The Xiaomi 2S is a pretty well-regarded air purifier unit, that supposedly has a pretty accurate built-in PM2.5 sensor. And if that's a real 2S model, the price listed is a very good one.

The 2S is a different and better unit than the original regular Xiaomi 2 purifier, which had operational issues and a not so accurate sensor.

The only downside to me about the Xiaomi units is that their filters are all-in-one style, meaning HEPA and carbon pre-filter combined in a single unit. Which makes replacement of the unit probably more frequent, compared to purifiers with separate HEPA and carbon pre-filter units, where the cheap carbon prefilter can be replaced separately and the more expensive HEPA filter kept and used longer.
