OTOP journey, an event aimed at improving entrepreneurs and One Tambon One Product (OTOP) by using science, technology and innovation, is being organised in Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok and Chachoengsao provinces.

The key aim of this event is to coordinate with the university to utilise research and knowledge on science, technology, and innovation to educate entrepreneurs and improve their potential in upgrading product quality and standard to receive recognition in national and international marketing, said Permsuk Sajjapiwat, inspector-general of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, which is jointly organising the event with Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi.

“This event is both the ministry and government’s important work according to the integrated plan to develop and promote the grass-roots economy” said Permsuk. “We believe that this event will help OTOP entrepreneurs upgrade their strength and potential to gain income sustainably in the future.”

Meanwhile university vice president Wisit Lawtammajak explained that activities at the event consist of suggestions on “Science for OTOP”, instructions on importance of product standards and lectures on improvement of products using science, technology and innovation.

The university’s Institution of Research and Development is holding an exhibition at the event, showing samples of OTOP and local product improvement while academic services from Thai Traditional Medicine College, Faculty of Liberal Arts, and Faculty of Home Economics will be available too.

“Also, there are products from Prachin Buri that create value from bamboo products as well those from OTOP of Nakhon Nayok and Chachoengsao and bank credit and financial services,” Wisit added.

“The ways of helping these entrepreneurs improve are numerous, including market research, product and package development, business mechanism and systematic management,” he said.

China has Alibaba, Global Sources and HKTDC.  Thailand is not as business friendly as China and other countries in the region.  Until openness occurs, all this is is a lot of talk.

All these people get paid to talk-very little change-they have fallen off a cliff, and selling their soul to China in order to save them, which is not going to happen-China will reap the rewards
