BANGKOK, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe here on Sunday, and the two sides agreed to further enhance military cooperation.

Thailand adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, Prayut said, adding Thailand hopes to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China, and welcomes more Chinese investment in Thailand as the two countries mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

The Thai premier said he hoped the two countries would further strengthen military cooperation in equipment and technology, joint exercises and joint training, as well as multilateral security.

Wei said that under the guidance and encouragement of leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations have maintained good momentum with bountiful fruits yielded in all areas of cooperation.

Exact ; but it is simply a return to what was the origin of Thailand;
Thais are mainly South Chinese people .

But Chinese nationals are not of 100% unitary ethnicity.

The dominate ethnic group are the Han Chinese who govern the nation.

But China's official 55 minorities are primarily in the south, west and north of China such as the Zhuang and Miao who mostly live in southern China. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_minorities_in_China#Demographics_of_the_ethnic_minorities

So from a political perspective the current Thai government is not aligning its trade and security policies with the "southern" Chinese but with the Han Chinese.

Thailand has traditionally tried to have good relations with opposing stronger powers, so find nothing unusual in this. See that they are not breaking with the US, just trying to be more centrist.

As to Silk Road debts, how does it differ from IMF debts? All powers use debt as either a control mechanism or for plunder.

We have the current scenario of the current empire getting a bit wobbly and a new one emerging, its called hedging your bets.

I do not question what you write.
When I say that Thai people come from the south of China, it happened thousands of years ago when the Han and other ethnic groups currently populating China did not exist yet.

No country in the world, USA, Brazil, France ... no more China than Thailand has a "unique or unitary ethnicity"

Dvaravati and Mon domination[edit]

Main article: Dvaravati

Mon Territory of Dvaravati

The area of Dvaravati (what is now Thailand) was first inhabited by Mon people who had arrived and appeared centuries earlier. The foundations of Buddhism in central Southeast Asia were laid between the 6th and 9th centuries when a Theravada Buddhist culture linked to the Mon people developed in central and northeastern Thailand. Theravadans believe that enlightenment can be obtained only by one living the life of a monk (and not by a layman). Unlike Mahayana Buddhists, who admit the texts of numerous Buddhas and Bodhisattvas into canon, Theravadans venerate only the Buddha Gautama, the founder of the religion. The Mon Buddhist kingdoms that rose in what are now parts of Laos and Central Plain of Thailand were collectively called Dvaravati.[1]:27

Mon people are NOT Chinese but Aryan/India/Javanese; China was tiny 1500 years ago, compared to now, China started to become a large entitiy after the 13Century after it took over the Mongol empire, its why Thailand speaks the sanskrit and pali languages as its main language and NoT a Chinese language, as the so called Aryan cultures, for which Mon is one of them, influenced so much of Southeast asia, the culture ceremonies of Thailand are closer to India/Iran than China, but the last 150 years Thailand has seen an invasion of Chinese people coming to settle for many reasons, and i am sure the next 20 years will be similar because thats what the CCP nazi regime wants
