Pheu Thai party opposes vote recount

 

 

The Pheu Thai party will object to a vote recount on the opposition motion for the establishment of a panel to study the impacts of the junta’s pre-election orders and executive orders issued under Section 44 of the Constitution, but may attend the House meeting this Wednesday to ensure a quorum.

 

Opposition chief whip and Pheu Thai MP Suthin Klangsaeng said, however, that the opposition parties will decide at the Wednesday meeting whether they will agree to the vote recount but, as far as the Pheu Thai party is concerned, the answer is “No”.

 

He expressed his support for a suggestion that House regulation 85, regarding vote recounts, should be amended to specify clearly the definition of a vote recount and under what circumstances it is permitted.

I'd like to see what percentage of 'recounts' the government parties actually win, I imagine it's quite high

Sorry but are they saying a vote recount (and remember voting is done electronically using an electronic tag which identifies the MP, and their voting choice) needs to be recounted. How do you recount an electronic vote? The counting process is automatic and I would hope that Thailand 4.0 has enough computing power to be able to accurately tally the votes of 500 MPs first time. If not then I am happy to give the parliament my old Nokia which although 10 years old has plenty of processing power to tally 500 votes. 

 

If not then clearly all previous votes must also be recounted as they may have been inaccurate as well.

The purpose of the recount is to make sure that this time the coalition have enough MP's there and also get some time to try and convince some of the democrat MP's to vote "right".  This way they may win.

That's not a recount that is submitting the same piece of legislation a second time. Surely that cannot be allowed. Otherwise any sitting government can continuously submit and resubmit the same legislation time and time again until it gets a favorable result?

Kept getting the same negative result though and then resigned !!

That's what they are trying to do. And that's why Pheu Thai are demanding a clearer definition of the rules regarding recount of votes. 

 

The system was set up by the old NCPO and they ofcourse set it up for their own advantage.  That's why they allowed a election to take place.
