Beach Road construction set for Feb. 13 completion

1368-N1-Dec-18-05-Floodway-digging-slow-

Pattaya: Pattaya officials say roadwork that has turned Beach Road into a disaster zone during high season will complete by Feb. 13.

Speaking to the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association at the Dec. 18 meeting at the Green Park Resort, Deputy City Manager Worapot Pongpalee urged business leaders to be patient, arguing that the long-term benefit of better flood-drainage will be worth the current inconvenience.

The start of the project lagged badly, however, with workers advancing less than one block at one point in August and September. With the delays, the worst of the roadwork, traffic and detours have landed square in the middle of high season.

Worapot said city hall has met regularly with affected business owners and has adjusted work schedules when necessary to avoid major problems.

Great, they can point to it during the hot season and say 'Look, no flooding, it's working'.....

Impeccable planning as we'd come to expect, well done!

Perhaps they wanted to show the high season tourists, "See, we are making things better here.  Please come back."  ????

Just took a some friends to Pattaya last weekend and the beach front is a mess for the high season with very few tourists in deck chairs, but lot’s of friendly girls standing around to assist lonely visitors in their inquiries.

When it is finished, it will start again how many times has beach road been dug up the last 5 years?

no mention of the torn up beach rd walking path being fixed... lol... TIT

Timed to coincide with the end of a low High season.  I'm sure all those tourists who suffered countless hold-ups, dust, rubbish and lack of amenity will be back next year.

Finished February 13th "Next Life".
