Surgery For "Trigger Thumb"?

Featured Replies

I've had two steroid injections but this painful condition keeps coming back, so surgery is the likely next step.  Would appreciate a report and recommendation from anyone has had it done recently here in CM.

Lanna Hospital but I forgot the Dr's Name. Did surgery for finger - no problem.

I went back about surgery for other finger. He said I didn't need it. And he was right.

Trying to unearth dr name.

I had a trigger finger operated on by Prof. Sudhee about 5 years ago. 10 minutes and done.  Dr. Morgan gave me a second injection for another trigger finger a few days ago.  She recommended that for surgery I should go to a hand specialist doctor who has a clinic on the canal road as he can do the op in house.  I am across the other side of the country at the moment but can get the Doctors Name and PM next week if you like.

Yes please, that would be very helpful.

Can either of you remember the approximate cost of the procedure?

For anyone who is going to get the cortisone shot, bring a bottle of whiskey and a bullet to bite on.

??????? Perhaps that needs a change of Dr. I had steroid injection into shoulder and not particularly painful.

Finger not = shoulder.

I can confirm:  cortisone into your thumb is extremely painful.  About the most excruciating thing I have ever had done without an anesthetic.....

Thanks for the lead on the Hand Ortho Clinic.  Had surgery there two weeks ago and the affected hand is now back to normal.  A very professional and well run place which has two doctors who alternate. Professor Kanit did mine and, other than the initial local anesthetic which is on a par with a cortisone injection, it was painless and all over in about 30 minutes.  A much better and more personal experience than attending hospital I suspect.

The clinic shares a building with a dentist and is 50m past the 7-11.  Go slowly - it's really easy to miss and you'll have to do three or four kilometres to come round again!
