It seems like a warning, the question that arises again: what did you do Big Joke to make the fall you made and now for this?
We say that to be a good policeman you must first be an excellent criminal ... WHAT ARE YOU? WERE?

True, but he should say "senior" policeman.

So what's the motive?

Sounds like a big joke to me. Riding on a motorcycle and the bullet holes were too close to each other to be believable. Quick someone: bring in the bumbling detective Colombo to investigate.

Excellent grouping for a handgun, but they need to wind the sights up a notch or two if they want a bullseye.

Big Joke really has pi$$ed someone off bigtime. I wonder if even he knows who, or how.

The man known universally as Big Joke was not in his Lexus at the time. Manager reported that he was in an establishment having a massage at the time.

Quite obviously he didn't get a happy ending.

"A national police chief said that the incident would be investigated thoroughly and was bad for tourism. No motive was immediately apparent"........   Ha ha, the main cause of the decrease in tourism was getting a happy ending at the time of the shooting.........  Mind you by the looks of that grouping sat on the back of a motorbike old "Big Jokes" days are numbered..........

Why?

how is an ex immigration officer getting shot at bad for tourism???

You're missing the point - guns being fired in the street, regardless of whether they actually hit anybody, is not exactly a good advert for any tourist destination - and as we all know, people have got to be nice to tourists because "we need their money"!

Does your country not do this?

Thai forensic teams are very good.

Thai forensic teams very good ?  Good job it wasn't the same team from Koh Tao, they'd of counted twenty bullet holes and dragged in two Burmese by now......... What a laugh.......

It's a mafia sign...just to make someone scare...They didn't want to kill him, just send a message...Can we know now why he was fired some months ago from his job..

Certain people in authority were afraid of their income stream being affected. When people in a high ranking

job are sacked, you can bet money is involved somewhere.

Will he be allowed to capture his own attackers?

Only if he also has a vinyl poster board graphic/photos display to accompany him on his resulting news conference.

But in this case, seriously, I suspect -- the shooters will never be known/found. Because more than likely, this shooting was not a random criminal act undertaken by nobodies.
