Pattaya: Thai maid savaged by Rottweilers in shop - is this breed really gentle and loving?

A maid returned to her job cleaning at a Pattaya real estate agents on Sai 2 road only to be savagely attacked by two of the owners three Rottweilers. 

 

When police and rescue medics arrived the owner would not let them in. Sawang Boriboon gave Sirikun Sumaphan, 38, first aid outside before taking her to hospital. 

 

She had wounds to her entire left side including arm, waist and leg and was covered in blood. 

 

She said she had no idea why two of the dogs had attacked her. She tried to get away into a corner of the shop but her left side was sticking out and the dogs continued to attack.

Her screams eventually alerted the owner who took the dogs upstairs and locked them away. 

 

Police are waiting to see what injuries she has before proceeding in the investigation. 

 

There has always been much debate about Rottweilers with dog lovers saying they are wonderful pets and dog haters being far more wary. 

 

The American Kennel Club calls the breed a "loyal Loving and confident guardian" who is a "gentle playmate and protector within the family circle". 

 

Animals 24-7 begged to differ. They said in March of last year that 113 people including children had been killed by Rottweilers in attacks in North America since 1982. 

 

They put the breed on a par with pit bulls.

It is a large size , powerful dog, an attack by a large powerful dog does lots of damage . If golden or any of the large breeds attacked , results would be the same.

Yes the "dog lovers" always say their vicious mongrels are "lovely"  right up until they savage someone...

my friend has 2 rotties and they are wonderfull dogs, very gentle with the family's baby etc. They have, however been very well raised and that makes all the difference.

Once worked as a telephone repairman. Found small breeds - chihuahuas, pomeranians, ..., etc the nastiest, although hardly threatening. 

Had many pleasant encounters with pitbulls, Rottweilers, and other "bad" breeds. Once played with a client's pitbull's puppies, as the dog was feeding them. Surprisingly, I encountered many aggressive Dalmatians. 

The only dog that ever managed to actually bite me was a Australian Shepard, named Heidi. I had it put outside. But, the daughter came home and let it in. "Surprise!" Bite me square in the back.

Dogs are dogs. Any breed has the potential to attack. As predators, it's in their nature. It's just the some are better at it than others.

It’s one of those breeds that if kicks off, is really difficult to stop; very strong with thick craniums, so not an ideal family pet.

Those statistics are meaningless and the website offers no details and some of the references have expired.

 

What are the percentages supposed to mean? 13.3% of all labradors attack, or 13.3% off all dog attacks are by Labradors?

 

If, for example. 8.4% of all dog attacks are by Pit Bulls, that would make Pit Bulls far more dangerous as Pit Bull ownership is miniscule compared to Labrador and German Shepherd ownership. In Australia, 0% of dog attacks are by Pit Bulls as they are banned. Does that mean they are the safest breed?

Fortunately, those breeds are also banned in Australia.

 

The good news is that there are plenty of breeds still available for dog lovers.

People who defend this breed are accomplices in the continued injuries and deaths caused by it. There's no need for this breed. Breed's are a creation on man and with that there is no reason to continue those which are doing things like this.

The dog obviously has not been properly socialised from a. young age and has some insecurity issues.

Only frightened dogs lash out like this.

so in 38 years equals nearly 3 fatalities per year with no details of why they attacked. Just hope you dont swim in the sea if the sharks wont get you the pollution will.

Some have what to do backwards: put the owner "down" and fine the dogs. The dogs can be rehabilitated. Doubt owner could be.

My little French bulldog thinks it can take on any size dog on the outside. Just gets this crazy hyper look on her face. . So I would hate for someone to come to my house for a Halloween party dressed like one. Of any course she is sweet as pie.

Yes i have had Rottweilers

Rottweilers are big and strong and from my experience like all big dogs ,clumsy boisterous and playful not dangerous

However if they have been trained to be they will be!
