Popular Post Teak
To be clear, I spent my ten years North of Chiengmai and now just visit 4 months a years, except this year, which I am in the dreary, cold, clean, (AQI 10) WET Coast of Canada. Just checking the AQI readings today Jan 19, 2020 Hang Dong hospital 156 Sanka Paeng 184 (sp?) Chieng Dao 106 (old spelling) Udon Thani 138 Vientiane 127 Battambang (Cambodia) 180 Pattaya 155 Hua Hin 158 Chieng Rai 147 Kunming ( Yunnan, China) 78 Kuala Lampur 78 Ho Chi Min (Saigon) 110 . Of course these readings are not static, but, it may be time to think of other options than moving to Cambodia or Vietnam. I have not figured it out. I am now single, but once moved a long time wife to Indonesia and she was quite an exotic there. Looked similar and no historical enmity with Thailand. We were there a year, but I doubt she would last long. Taking a Thai wife to Cambodia or Myanmar is impossible, due to their history. My ex Thai wife has comfortably lived in Canada for a dozen years....same with the USA, Europe etc. Thai women adapt well to a 'Western' culture, as it is a 'step up'. We....generally want to 'step down'. Yeah......being single again is great ???? 4 4

Plenty of Khmer and Burmese women available, no need to import Thais. Although personally I'd be shopping for a Viet wife as the $50 for 5 years VISA is unbeatable. 2nd choice would be a Filipino wife with their free VISA for 1 year. Popular Post Teak
I remember being regularly on Soc.culture.thailand back in the late '90's..... My initial comment had nothing to do with women, it was about the entire region has 'bad' air for the winter months. There is a different kind of male in Chiengmai today....it seems. Many are interested in receiving a cheap foot massage or where the best kiffer drink which can be found. There was a time, when we had to be smart/tough in Chiengmai....and far smarter/ tougher in the backwoods. Potential death was always present and we accepted that....now you guys seem to want your favourite yogurt. There are a few of you who understand me. It was once dangerous and bloody fun....and we made friends with Thai males. Vascoda
I prefer no wife. BUt I have a GF for 18 years and a daughter with her. For sometime when my daughter was born, my GF was into marriage too much. I asked her if she wanted to go to the USA and live there and she said no. I asked her what benefits you would get if I marry her in Thailand? She could not give me a convinving answer. Now she does not really care. I bought her a new house in a gated community, a new car last year after ten years with her old vios, and she has access to my 7 million BHT in banks. I may also buy a condo for me to live in her name. Why she needs to marry me ????. Edited January 21, 2020 by Vascoda

Popular Post jonwilly
I like Thailand and Thai folk. So many of the problems are caused by Frangs. The ones who have broken the laws on Finance require to live here and the ones who have run away leaving unpaid bills with the Medical authorities. We foreigners chose to live in Thailand and so many of our kind have queered the system for those of us who play the game. Thailand their country and they make the rules, if we want to play then we obey if not GO please GO and stop spoiling our quiet peaceful life. john 1

Based on your response, I would suppose you have been shackled to the same one for a very long time and now live as brother and sister. Not uncommon. My point was where in SE Asia was worthwhile to go ? I was in Hanoi in 1989....not quite the same as today. I have no wife now and want no wife tomorrow. I have been around too long. My point was....where to go ? If you have a Thai wife she cannot live in Cambodia or Vietnam for long. My point was where are the options for the unencumbered? Yes, I lived in Indonesia for a year , Myanmar for 6 months and Malaysia many times. I do not know where these posters become obsessed with women. Women are women....eventually you learn that White, Brown, Black....makes no difference. Popular Post Ventenio
IMO.... Married without wanting kids is like paying for a friend and headaches and sex that will definitely get old.... no way. I would only marry someone to be the mother of my kid, and it would have to be a smart lady since a single parent is bad for any child. Kids are expensive, but probably worth it. Paying some random lady seems ridiculous. If she has more money, that will be worse. Life is simple if you trust yourself. Get educated, work, work smart, make money, save money, take control over your life, then add others. If you don't want kids, just make more friends. 1 3 1

No money, no honey....;-) My ex Thai wife of 17 years were business partners......the 'one pocket' is what we had. This gives a Thai woman power and chooses to be loyal, because we are in it together. That fat f%%k on the golph course simply pays his Pattaya whore to smile on command. Yes, 3 ex wives.....but 2 of the three call me every month to just keep connected. The point was, where to go, when Thailand is no longer sustainable for us White guys? Hi, I lived in Indonesia for several years, mostly in Surabaya and East Kalimantan. I liked the Java women and some of the Java men...as they were no threat. However, the Bugis men on Sulawesia...if you are connected, or not, can be great allies....or deadly enemies. The word 'Boogey Man' came from the first Dutch colonizers who could not conrol the Buguis......when they returned to Europe they would say to their chidren "be good or the Buguis will get you." Eventually that became bastardized from Buguis to Boogey. The term running 'amok' is also from Indonesia. The Buguis are similar to some groups of Vietnamese. Small, but bloody tough.
