  • Can't we just listen to the old activists that pull the strings and write the scripts for the young activists? As if Greta ever had an original thought in her life.

  • Not Greta again !

If we have come to the point where children are now supposed to be teaching adults how to behave, then we have entered into a serious cultural regression, quite possibly a terminal one.   As

Enforced? No choice?

I'm well aware of the problems, but reducing population was never going to be simple.

Nothing will reduce climate change as it is beyond the ability of humans to control.

Disagree. Again.

Absolutely, if we want to save the planet for human habitation. If we don't voluntarily reduce population to perhaps 1950s level, Nature will do it for us, IMO.

Won’t work as China’s failed and disastrous one child policy proved.

Enact all IPCC recommendations.

No was afraid in the 50s as they were not aware of the fact we were destroying our climate.

Tell me, how would you enforce population control?

The methods are numerous, disease, famine, war etc, read the Georgia Stones,

Earths sustainability is the objective.

Same way the Chinese did.

It's obvious to anyone with eyes to see that a population of billions all wanting "stuff" will exploit the planet's raw materials to exhaustion, and then what happens- war happens.

You wish to initiate disease, famine, war?

Great solution...

Trump made such a fool of himself, by essentially saying "I am bought and paid for by corporate America. They are my masters, and i am an obedient servant to them." No analysis or science is required. And as we all know, he is not a science guy anyway. That stuff is way too complicated.

Man made ecological disasters will result in a shortage of food supplies and drinkable water ... Wars for resources will occur .

Anyway , happens already , only for oil and gas yet ...

No solutions of your own then, just what some UN organisation says? That'll work, not.

We don't have to initiate them- nature will. Simple really- problem is too many people destroying the planet- nature reduces or destroys humanity- problem solved.

That’s a weird extrapolation. We ain’t in medieval times. But there again looking at how US try to control the oil field in ME by fictitious reasons to wage wars, perhaps we back in time.

I will take this as your acknowledgement that there were concerns about climate change long before Greta’s telling those old fossil deniers.

"fossil deniers" What a truly daft thing to say about people who disagree with all the CC hysteria.

And that is happening voluntarily. Nearly all of the developed countries have reduced their population growth drastically, either by policy, or by the people. Thailand is down to 1.44 per 1,000, from nearly 6,5 per thousand 40 years ago. Some are now negative. The real issue with regard to population growth is Africa and a few Arab nations. China, India, and this region is totally under control. China abolished the one child policy, and families still do not want to have more than one child. The world seems to be getting smarter.

Albert Einstein Is alleged to have said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. Whether he did or not, I agree with the sentiment of the quote.

The problem of man made climate change is not because of overpopulation.

It would have a better chance of working if enacted than your advocation of a failed state policy.

Much of it is, not all.  Half the people = far less pollution.

Wouldn't be a problem if the countries that are overpopulating themselves kept all their people at home, but instead they keep sending the excess population to countries that have got their population increase under control. Doesn't matter if rich countries are not over breeding if their populations still increase with immigration.

Actually factual. Most American youths concurred with youths around the world on climate change and more concerned than their elders. Elders shouldn’t be selfish to deny the next generation of a better world.

At least partly - it is .

More people - more pollution

more pollution - faster climate change

It is now too late anyway to reverse what happened already ... time to concentrate at least on reducing man made pollution and prepare for a future that does not look good ... ( do not buy beachland ...55 )

Cannot support enforced sterilisation.

????????????????

The Chinese gave up on it before it had time to work, which would be several generations, and they only did it once, not over and over.

The objective isn't to achieve population stasis, but reduction, preferably to 1950s levels. That would reduce demand for raw materials and fresh water to sustainable levels, IMO.

As TBL said , nature will take care for that ... but it will be painful .

What a pity that mankind ( most , not all ) ,does only learn when it feels the pain .
